Including Restraining Means Patents (Class 5/650)
  • Patent number: 5718011
Abstract: A device for cleaning a baby by supporting him/her by a flat cushioned surface at a parallel relationship with respect to a supporting ground. A rectangular frame supports the cushioned surface. Two elongated members are hingedly mounted to one end of the frame that includes a bay inbetween the elongated members. Straps are slidably and adjustably mounted over the length of the frame and elongated members. The angular position of the elongated members with respect to the flat cushioned surface is adjustable to one of several predetermined positions.

  • Patent number: 5687742
Abstract: A knee extension device and method for using same for rehabilitating an injured knee by gradually extending the knee into a straightened position is disclosed. The knee extension device includes an elongated body member, a lower leg support member attached to the body member, and pressure applying strap capable of being wrapped around the body member. A leg is positioned on the body member with the lower portion of the leg resting on the support member. Pressure is selectively applied to the leg using the pressure applying strap to gradually force the knee towards a straightened position.

  • Patent number: 5603692
Abstract: A foot drop leg splint used to stabilize a patient's foot who suffers from drop foot when at rest. The splint has a rigid support frame with a contoured foam insert with removable straps to hold the splint on the patient. An adjustable rotational restraint is selectively deployed from the splint to prevent axial rotation of the leg and foot when required.

  • Patent number: 5603336
Abstract: A footbox for medical patient's that is placed at the foot of their bed. It has a horizontal base having a rear wall extending up from its rear end. Two pairs of laterally spaced walls form a left foot receptacle and a right foot receptacle and they extend from the rear wall. The three walls forming each of the respective foot receptacles have foam pads lining their inner surfaces to provide cushioning for the patient's feet. A cushioned pad extends across the width of the base in front of the respective left and right foot receptacles and is of such a height that the patient's heel will not contact the top surface of the base inside the respective foot receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5582379
Abstract: An adjustable limb support system is provided for an operating room table to adjustably orient and position a stirrup or boot. The support system provides an adjustable support in combination with a vertically adjustable support. The vertically adjustable support includes a support arm, a ratchet wheel, a lock pin, and a ratchet release. The support arm is connected to a housing which both rotate about the ratchet wheel in a rotational plane extending upwardly and outwardly from the operating room table for automatic abduction. The lock pin engages the ratchet wheel and allows the support arm to be rotated upwardly but not downwardly. The ratchet release disengages the lock pin and allows the support to be rotated downwardly. The support arm can thus ratchet upwardly to fixed vertical positions and be lowered only by disengaging the lock pin. The adjustable support includes a retaining block, a compression block, and a compression head.

  • Patent number: 5418991
Abstract: A therapeutic appliance includes an elongate central cushion, four elongate peripheral cushions and opposing seams for interconnecting sets of two of the peripheral cushions to each other and to opposing sides of the central cushion. In one embodiment, the central and peripheral cushions collectively form a generally X-shaped configuration when viewed in transverse cross-section. In another embodiment, the central cushion can be eliminated so that the axes of the peripheral cushions lie at the corners of a rectangle when viewed in transverse cross-section. Each of the peripheral cushions is preferably of cylindrical configuration so as to provide snug support of a limb of a patient therebetween and prevent slippage of the appliance away from the patient during sleep, etc.

  • Patent number: 5369827
Abstract: A medical stirrup supporting and positioning apparatus which provides three dimensional adjustment. The stirrup features a single locking member which simultaneously locks the stirrup into two of three non parallel planes. It also includes a free-floating boot which together with the locking device allows the stirrup to be locked in a horizontal plane and also locked in the adduction or abduction position, but the boot is still free to tilt forward and backwards between safety stop positions.

  • Patent number: 5269322
Abstract: The leg separating apparatus (10) is a bifurcated relatively deformable and resilient foam or plastic structure for placement on the inner surface of a patient's leg. The apparatus provides predetermined leg separation to alleviate the stress placed upon the spine and lower back of a patient when the patient is in a lying position. A centrally located knee shroud (12) provides a knee bone centering portion (20) for an opposing knee. Traverse support members (22, 36) extend from each side of the knee shroud to distribute the associated leg weight along the length of the leg. Straps (50) secure the support members (22, 36) to the leg. Each support member includes an accordion segmented portion (34, 46) allowing the leg separating structure to bend during the sleeping hours and eliminates the need for removal for short walks. An alternative embodiment set forth a shell structure with a rotatable knee shroud.
