Abstract: The universal hospital bed designed for nursing the immobile patients with additional bathing equipment” belongs to the category of the health equipment, intended for the health institutions, gerontology institutions and family households. The essence of the invention is in its constructive solution of the three-part bed, which using the mechanism for electrical and mechanical adjustment of the angles of the slope of the mobile parts of bed, could be converted into the form of (arm) chair. The belt holders and belts for fastening the patients are installed on the back part of the bed, and the antidecubitus mattress is placed along the whole bed, used as preventive protection of the patients against decubitus, or if patient already has it, for healing of the wounds. On the middle sitting part of the bed-mattress, part of the mattress is cut and the basic insert (41) is made of it, which if necessary, could be replaced with WC insert.

Abstract: An improvement to gurneys for cleaning patients confined to bed which generally is comprised of a structure with legs having caster wheels, which includes, generally, a framework for affixing a table to support the patient with a washing basin comprised of a piece of flexible and collapsible laminar material, attached to the frame, which follows the perimeter of the support table and is connected to form walls that delimit a space for washing. The improvement is comprised of a frame that includes elongations at the ends of its longitudinal sides, which project vertically above the table with rows of notches to affix and hold the upper edge of the laminar piece and to delimit the washing space. These elongations may be comprised of extensions of the ends of the longitudinal sides of the frame in a U shape, formed with vertical inclined sections joined below the frame, of which one, the furthest from the frame, projects above the table to incorporate the row of affixing notches for the laminar material piece.

Abstract: A bath for use with a bed for the sick includes a flexible bag body that is formed to hold liquid therein. The flexible bag body has an opening and four support bar inserting paths formed along an edge of the opening. The opening is squared rigidly by supporting bars that are inserted within the supporting bar inserting paths. The supporting bars, while inserted in the supporting bar inserting paths, are removably supported on a bed frame. The bath of the present invention can be prepared at a low cost, and, after removing the bag body from the bed, can be folded small so as to need only a small storage space. Also, since the bag body is freely deformable and light-weight, it is easier to handle during mounting, removing and cleaning.

Abstract: A foldable bathtub assembly accommodated in a space under a bed includes: a base arranged on a floor surface to be movable between a first place under the bed and a second place on the side of the bed; a bathtub supporting frame mounted on the base to allow movement of the bathtub supporting frame in a vertical direction between an upper position and a lower position; and a bathtub made of watertight flexible cloth or plastic sheet, wherein the bathtub is fixed on its upper periphery to and suspended from the bathtub supporting frame. When the bathtub is folded and the bathtub supporting frame is in its lower position, the whole height of the bathtub assembly is sufficiently reduced to allow accommodation of the assembly in the space under the bed. When the base of the bathtub assembly is pulled out to the second place on the side of the bed and the bathtub supporting frame is vertically moved to its upper position, the bathtub assembly forms a bathtub having a sufficient depth.

The method includes the steps of sliding a patient P over a front side (76) into the bottom (70) of the tub for bathing the patient, and returning the patient after bathing over the front side to the bed (20). The front side (76) of the tub (20, 20A, 20C) overlaps the mattress (12, 12A, 12C) and is supported thereon. The bed frame (14, 14B) and mattress (12, 12B) are movable vertically for raising and lowering the tub (20, 20A, 20C). The patient is moved into and out of the tub (20, 20A, 20C) when the tub (20, 20A, 20C) is in a lowered position, and is bathed with the tub in the raised position.

Abstract: A support frame is positioned over a hospital bed to assist in lifting and turning a patient on a sheet. In addition to the lifting mechanism, the frame has a carriage mechanism which can carry a lifted patient beyond the side or the end of the bed. The patient can also be lifted from the bed, the frame narrowed, and the patient transported to other locations in the hospital and then back to the bed without any severe physical handling. A bath water and waste water cart is used to bath a patient and to catch waste water. A drain pan is placed under the patient to catch bath water and return the water to a drain water tank on the cart.

Abstract: A wash water draining device for washing patients in bed has a mattress base, which is formed, for example, by inflatable chambers and is disposed underneath a waterproof bed mattress and slopes the bed mattress from the sides to the center and from the head end to the foot end. The toilet pan (22) is cleaned using the water supply which is controlled by movement of the movable segment (40). An alternative embodiment has an attachable hot and cold water supply (58) with a wash basin (53) to allow patients to wash themselves.

Abstract: A portable bathing unit for use with bedridden patients is disclosed. The bathing unit includes a bath tub supported by a carriage which is movably positionable in the proximity of a patient. Casters depend from the bottom of the carriage housing to permit the portable bathing unit to be rolled along in an upright posture. Additional casters are also attached to the rear of the housing which permit the portable bathing unit to be turned up on its rear and transported through narrow doorways. Water delivery and retrieval is accomplished through the use of a submersible pump and a segment of conduit. A whirlpool bath tub may be employed if desirable. When the bath tub is not in use, the portable bathing unit is convertible into an article of furniture. The housing of the carriage forms armrests and a backrest, and a cover conceals the bathing chamber and forms a seat. A valance drapes around the bottom of the carriage to conceal the casters thereunder.
