  • Patent number: 8407833
Abstract: The invention relates to a deformable support element for use in a bed system, and to a bed system comprising the support elements. The bed system is suited in particular for use in the prevention of the development of decubitus by recumbent patients. The support element according to the invention consists of a support plate, flexible edge elements connected at each end to the support plate allowing for a directed movement of the end of the support plate out of an unloaded position, and one or more actuators beneath the support plate for deforming the support plate. The invention is advantageously characterized in that the support plate of the support element can take on a straight shape by the actuation of the actuator or actuators or can be deformed into an undulated shape or into a movement that is directed upward or downward.

  • Patent number: 7458121
Abstract: A health bed capable of adjusting the spine curve of a human body mainly comprises a plurality of elevators. Each of the elevators includes a lower plate having several upholders extending therefrom wherein a motor is fixed on the center of the lower plate and the axle of the motor is a screw engaged with the middle of a motor-driven base such that the motor-driven base can be moved upward or downward by a drive of the screw. The upholders support the motor-driven base is disposed above the lower plate and supported by upholders. A plurality of elastic objects is disposed on the motor-driven base in which the elastic object has a sense stick inside and the sense stick penetrates out of the bottom of the motor-driven base. A height sensor lateral the base may thus measure a downside movement of the elastic objects. The height sensor and the motor are connected to a control circuit that actuates the motors to drive the motor-driven bases upwardly to a desired height by receiving signals from the height sensors.

  • Patent number: 5625914
Abstract: An automatic mattress surface contour and support changing apparatus includes a wave-emitter assembly which emits waves and is worn by a person lying in bed. A wave-responsive mattress/control assembly responds to the waves of the wave-emitter assembly for adjusting top surface support characteristics of the wave-responsive mattress/control assembly. The wave-responsive mattress/control assembly includes a plurality of signal-responsive, adjustable-height support assemblies and a top layer covering and supported by the plurality of signal-responsive, adjustable-height support assemblies. The top layer provides a top support surface for supporting the person in bed. A plurality of wave sensor assemblies are ready to sense waves from a wave-emitter assembly when the wave-emitter assembly moves substantially close to one or more of the wave sensor assemblies. With one embodiment, each wave sensor assembly is connected to an associated signal-responsive, adjustable-height support assembly.
