Abstract: A portable bed for a newborn infant made up of a rectangular flat support surface which holds a firm infant mattress pad, the surface having a rigid headboard perpendicularly attached at one end, and rigid perpendicular partial side walls attached to both the support surface and to the headboard. A hinge is provided about midway along the longitudinal length of the support surface allowing the unit to be closed against itself to facilitate easy transport. A soft fabric cover is provided to cover the surface, headboard and side walls. A firm waterproof mattress pad having the same dimensions as the support surface is also provided. A pair of handles may also be provided at either end of the support surface for carrying the unit when folded together.

Abstract: An infant bed is slidably attachable to a bed frame such that the infant bed can be moved along a length of the bed frame. The infant bed can be readily moved in relation to the bed to maintain infant/adult closeness and facilitate adult ingress/egress from the adult bed.

Abstract: A crib securable to the side of a parent's bed that includes an alarm mechanism for sounding an audible alarm when an infant attempted to climb from the crib onto the parent's bed. The crib is secured to the bedside with a crib structure bed attachment assembly. The crib structure bed attachment assembly includes two spaced under mattress boards extending from a bottom board of an open topped crib structure of the crib, past and perpendicular to a front barrier board, and a safety block secured between forward ends of the two spaced under mattress boards with adjustable length flexible tethers that are sufficiently adjustable such that the safety block is held against sides of a mattress and box spring to hold the front barrier board against an opposite side of the mattress.

Abstract: A portable unit for changing clothes of a baby comprises a substantially stiff base body (2) adapted to support the body of a lying baby and a pair of movable wings (5) rotatably engaged on opposite sides of the base body (2) and shiftable between a closed position in which the movable wings (5) are superposed on the base body (2) and an operating open position in which the movable wings (5) are disposed externally of said base body.

Abstract: A first playpen enclosure that converts easily to a bassinet, changing table or bed-side crib or "co-sleeper" that attaches securely to the parents' bed. A second enclosure support system maintains a padded enclosure and rigid floor panel at one or more predetermined levels below the top of the playpen to form the bassinet and co-sleeper. The second enclosure has a back, two sides, a bottom and a front flap that converts into a front wall for use in the bassinet mode and overhangs the front horizontal rail for use in the co-sleeper mode. The upper front corners are segmented into a movable section and a fixed section to facilitate lowering the front horizontal rail to at least one lower second position to accommodate various parental bed heights. Extensions of the fixed section are affixed to the front vertical rails and accept the movable sections in several positions to secure the rail in the second positions.

Abstract: A retrofitting system designed to convert an adult-size bed into an infant/toddler bed is disclosed. The retrofitting system comprises first a template is being placed on a twin, full, queen, king-or larger size bed with an underside of the template fitted to an underside of a mattress. The system further comprises a number of interconnecting geometrical shape structures connected to the template on the bed. A plate/channel system is used to connect the geometrical shape structures to the template. The template and geometrical shape structures can be disassembled and assembled for storage, cabinet, diaper change table, chair, table etc., as the child grows up. The system can further be converted into children's toys, such as a car, slide, activity center, snake etc. with accessories.

Abstract: A cushion supports an infant on a support surface, especially as an aid in changing the infant's diapers and garments. The cushion includes an inner elongated pad that is preferably formed as two sections of foam material. The upper surface of the pad is trough-shaped to provide an infant receiving channel, and a casing extends around the pad. Where the pad is in two sections, the casing has a single top panel that supports two pockets that respectively receive a pad section so that they can be pivoted between a folded state and an extended state wherein the pad sections are aligned. This folding occurs about a central transverse line relative to the top panel. When in the extended state, confronting edges of the pockets have fasteners that connect to one another to secure the cushion in the extended state. A restraining strap of elastic or other construction extends transversely across the top of the cushion at a central location, preferably alongside the transverse line.

Abstract: A bedside crib (hereinafter "co-sleeper") that attaches to the parental bed that may be easily converted for use as a child's easel, couch, bassinet or toy display/storage device. The co-sleeper provides a rigid enclosure formed of a pair of sides, front and rear leg portions, a removable back, a mattress base with front retaining lip, and at least one removable shelf. The mattress base is hingedly attached to the front leg portion to tilt upwardly at an acute angle to a ground surface to serve as a child's easel. When the mattress base is tilted at a right angle to the ground surface and the back of the co-sleeper is removed, the latter may serve as a toy storage/display device. A removable front allows the enclosure to function as a bassinet. Height-adjustable leg extensions attach to the sides to adjust the co-sleeper to different heights for use with various beds and to raise or lower the co-sleeper for use in alternative modes (bassinet, couch, etc.).

The second enclosure has a back, two sides, a bottom and a front flap that overhangs the front horizontal rail. The upper front corners are segmented into a removable section and a fixed section to facilitate the removal and unseating of the front horizontal rail to a second position at a first predetermined distance from the top position. Cooperating junctures affixed to the front vertical rails accept the removable sections and securely seat the rail in this second position. The supports, padded enclosure and rigid floor panel complete the changing table with the front flap hanging down in front.

Abstract: A crib for newborns and infants is easily placed in close proximity to the parents' bed without being physically attached thereto. An otherwise conventional crib mattress is retained in a bassinet or similar structure. The bassinet is supported in a frame that partially slides under the parents' bed, thereby allowing the bassinet to extend partially over the top surface of the parents' mattress.

Abstract: A playyard system with a handle and wheels comprising a floor separable from a playyard and formed of a plurality of similarly shaped rigid rectangular segments. The floor is adapted to be placed around a collapsed playyard to form a generally rectilinear configuration with an upper end and a lower end. A handle is secured to one of the segments of the floor adjacent to the upper end. The handle includes a gripping portion at the upper extent and a generally rigid intermediate wire formed with parallel vertical extents and an enlarged lower extent. The handle also has associated therewith apertured brackets secured to the floor for allowing for the sliding of the wire within the brackets to lower the handle toward the floor when in the stowed orientation and to raise the handle from the floor when in the elevated orientation for transportation.

Abstract: A portable crib for a sofa including a front section comprised of an inner gate and an outer gate. The inner gate is slidably received within the outer gate. The device includes a pair of side sections. Each of the side sections is comprised of an inner gate and an outer gate. The inner gate is slidably received within the outer gate. Each outer gate is secured to the inner gate and the outer gate of the front section. A sofa securement mechanism is hingedly coupled with a lower distal end of each of the inner gate and the outer gate of the front section.

Abstract: An adapter for suspending an air permeable sleeping surface from the top rails of a baby crib. The adapter has hooks engaging the rails, which hooks support a rectangular, permimetric frame. A flexible mesh fabric sleeping surface is removably attached to the frame. The hooks hold the sleeping surface well above and out of contact with the mattress of the crib, so that a child lying on his or her abdomen will not suffocate due to contact with the mattress, its cover, or a pillow. This situation could arise given the less yielding and more obstructing nature of a mattress and associated blankets and the like. In a preferred embodiment, the sleeping surface has reinforcing straps for opposing excessive deformation due to weight of the child.

Abstract: A bassinet and playyard combination comprising a playyard and a bassinet, the playyard having a lower frame member and an upper frame member defining an opening therebetween. Vertically extending rails between the upper and lower frame members with corner pieces join the corners of the upper frame member with the upper ends of the vertical rails and with a cylindrical well formed vertically in each corner piece. Further provided is a bassinet. The bassinet has a plurality of vertically extending cylindrical posts with lower ends positionable within the wells and with rails defining a supplemental frame adjacent to the upper ends of the posts. The bassinet includes a fabric liner with a central area positioned within and supported by the supplemental frame with vertical panels extending upwardly and around the rails of the supplemental frame and with a rigid platform associated with the fabric member.

Abstract: A crib having a headboard, a foot board, and opposite side gates surrounding a horizontal mattress support platform adjustably attached to the headboard and foot board and being selectively positionable at various levels. One of the side gates is removable to facilitate placement of the child crib alongside a parents' bed such that the mattresses on the bed and the crib are disposed in adjacent, co-planar relation. An apron attached to the mattress support platform is extendable for insertion in sandwiched relation between the mattress and a mattress support of the parents' bed, effectively interconnecting the crib and bed while preventing objects such as baby bottles from falling therebetween. A wheel assembly and brake structure associated therewith may be added so that movement of the crib may be selectively accomplished while inadvertent movement or travel of the crib is prevented.

Abstract: An infant crib in the form of a front panel to which is pivotally connected at each end thereof a side panel. The side panels are of a substantially greater height than the front panel. Each side panel is to be wedged along the side of a seat cushion of a couch or chair until the front panel is located directly adjacent the front edge of the cushion thereby forming an enclosed area to confine an infant when located on the top surface of the cushion.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a nursing cradle for infants that is attached to a bedstead or a waterbed. The disclosure is also directed to a soft wall and cradle sheet to keep an infant from exiting the cradle or getting wedged between a mother's bed and the cradle.

Abstract: A foldable baby bed for infants and very young children which can be used at the level of and attached to the bed of the parent or as a free standing unit. The legs of the baby bed can adjust to various heights and the front legs can be locked into a forward horizontal orientation so as to slide under the mattress of a conventional bed and form an extension of that bed permitting the baby to be near the parent so that the parent does not have to get up or to bend over to reach for the baby. The baby bed has a flexible, detachable front wall which can be rolled down at the convenience of the parent making the baby's sleeping surface contiguous with that of the parent. The baby bed is portable and folds flat for storage or travel. A pocket attached to the side holds necessaries for the baby such as diapers and powder.

Abstract: A baby crib for use adjacent parent's bed for new born children comprising easily assembled and disassembled components which can be easily stored and shipped. The crib comprises a first horizontal panel having a perpendicularly positioned vertical wall curving around the first horizontal panel on three sides. The first horizontal panel can be hingedly mounted with a second horizontal panel in conjunction with horizontal supports so that the second horizontal panel and a portion of the first horizontal panel may be slid in between a standard box spring and a mattress of a parent's bed. Also, an adjustable vertical support can be utilized to keep the adjacent crib stable and to retain therein a baby mattress, and also provide for various types of clip-on attachments to retain baby accessories and illuminate the baby crib.
