Abstract: A hydrochloric acid acidizing composition for treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore to increase the production of desired materials (e.g., hydrocarbons) therefrom that includes a corrosion inhibitor for protecting both ferrous based alloy surfaces (e.g., low alloy steel surfaces) and titanium based alloy surfaces associated with the treatment from corrosion by the acid. The corrosion inhibitor includes an effective amount of a first inhibitor component for inhibiting corrosion of ferrous based alloys, the first inhibitor component including at least one chemical reducing compound, and an effective amount of a second inhibitor component for inhibiting corrosion of titanium based alloys, the second inhibitor component including at least one source of molybdate ions such as sodium molybdate. A method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore to increase the production of desired materials therefrom is also provided.
Abstract: A gel fluid for treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore including an aqueous liquid, an organic gelling agent and at least about 0.05% by weight, based on the weight of the aqueous liquid, of a broken gel fragment stabilizer. The gel fluid can optionally include crosslinking agents, proppant materials, pH buffers and other components. The broken gel fragment stabilizer is a dialkyl sulfosuccinate that has dispersing properties sufficient to diminish the propensity of broken gel fragments formed when the gel fluid breaks to agglomerate. Also provided is a method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore. The inventive gel fluid and method are particularly suitable for fracturing a subterranean formation to stimulate the production of hydrocarbons therefrom.
Abstract: Methods are provided for acidizing treatment of a permeable matrix by infusing a pre-acidizing composition and an activating composition. Components of the pre-acidizing composition include hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, a hydroxy carboxylic acid and a dicarboxy acid.
