Abstract: A metalworking die has a soft metal plating on its contact surfaces. The plating produces a continuous lubricant supply which is only depleted slowly when employed in a hot metalworking operation. In forming a near-net-shape part using this die, the metalworking piece is coated with a glass lubricant. A temporary lubricant of graphite is also sprayed on the coated die.
Abstract: A grease composition comprising a base oil, a thickener selected from a metallic soap and a urea compound, and an inorganic filler having an average particle size of not greater than 2 .mu.m, and a rolling bearing having sealed therein a grease composition comprising a base oil, a urea thickener, and an inorganic filler having an average particle size of not greater than 2 .mu.m.
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and device for applying a lubricant-carrier layer to the surface of a material which is to be cold-formed, in particular wire material (1) which is subsequently to be cold-drawn, the carrier layer being such that a lubricant can be applied over it. The material used to produce the layer is applied dry. A container is provided to hold a multiplicity of loose pressure-application elements plus a given quantity of the dry carrier-layer material. To produce the lubricant-carrier layer on the wire material, at least part of which is located at any given time inside the container, the pressure-application elements surrounding the wire material are caused to execute a motion such that they apply the carrier-layer material disposed between them to the surface of the wire material mechanically, the pressure-application elements making uniform contact with the surface of the wire material as they move relative to the surface.
Abstract: Lubricant composition containing spherical particles of a ceramic material dispersed in a supporting vehicle. The composition is used as a lubricant, metalworking cooling fluid, drilling fluid or drilling mud.
Abstract: Lubricated rolling contact devices, especially full ceramic or hybrid ceramic rolling bearings, are designed so that the ceramic contact surface or surfaces are coated with a thin film formed from titanium dioxide in anatase form. The titanium dioxide film can be applied from a composition including particles of the titanium dioxide in grease or oil.
Abstract: To provide a ball bearing that insures reasonable endurance and which reduces the necessary torque for rotation while causing less fluctuations in torque, a synthetic resin cage of the ball bearing for retaining a plurality of balls so as to roll freely is impregnated with a lubricating oil having a viscosity of 10 to 150 mm.sup.2 /s at 40.degree. C. in an amount of 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of the cage, a film of the lubricating oil is formed in a thickness of 0.03 to 20 .mu.m on the surfaces of an inner race, an outer race, balls and the cage, and the amounts of the oiliness agent and the rust inhibitor that are to be contained in the lubricating oils are limited to the specified ranges.
