Abstract: Thermally formed thermoplastic articles can be protected from stress cracking in the presence of stress cracking promoting compounds by forming a shaped article comprising a thermoplastic and a liquid hydrocarbon oil composition. We have found that the liquid hydrocarbon oil composition prevents the stress cracking promoting materials from interacting with the polymeric structure of the stressed container to prevent or inhibit stress cracking in such materials. The methods and compositions of the invention are particularly useful in preventing stress cracking in polyethylene terephthalate beverage containers during bottling operations during which the bottle is contacted with aqueous and non-aqueous materials such as cleaners and lubricants that can interact with the polyester to cause stress cracking particularly in the container base.

Abstract: An anti-seize composition which is non-flowable and dimensionally stable at temperatures greater than about 120° F. and dispensable at room temperature without the application of heat is provided. The composition includes a solid anti-seize lubricant, such as of metallic copper, metallic nickel, metallic aluminum, metallic lead, metallic zinc, graphite, calcium oxide, calcium carbonate, calcium fluoride, calcium stearate, lithium, molybdenum disulfide, boron nitride, barium sulfate, or combinations thereof. The anti-seize lubricant is dispersed in a carrier which is a solid at about room temperature. The carrier includes a grease with an ASTM D 217 penetration at 25° C. from about 200 to about 400 mm, a matrix material, and a naphthenic petroleum oil having a viscosity of less than about 300 SUS at 100° F. and having an API gravity at 60° F. from about 23 to about 25. The matrix material is a polymeric material. Optionally, a refined petroleum wax may also be included.

Abstract: The invention aims to provide a rolling bearing that secures a sufficient bearing life economically even when used under such conditions that water from the outside or water formed by moisture condensation may seep into the lubricant or the bearing is affected by the vibrations, and particularly a rolling bearing suited to the electric parts and accessaries of au automobile engine, such as an alternator. To accomplish the object, the hydrogen ion exponent pH of the grease sealed into the inside of the bearing is adjusted in a range of from 7 to 13. For the same purpose, the hydrogen ion exponent pH of the grease is adjusted in a range of from 5 to 13 where a prescribed amount of an organic metal salt or ADTC is added to the grease, where a prescribed amount of an inorganic compound having an average particle size of 2 □m or smaller is added to the grease, or where a diurea compound containing an aromatic amine or a mixture of the diurea compound is added to the grease as a thickener.
