Prepared With, Or In The Presence Of, A Nitrogen-containing Material Patents (Class 508/396)
  • Publication number: 20040038834
Abstract: This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, (A) an antiwear improving amount of at least one molybdenum containing composition, (B) at least one phosphorus antiwear or extreme pressure agent, and (C) at least one dispersant, provided that the lubricating composition is free of polysulfurized olefins. The lubricating compositions have improved antiwear properties. When the lubricating composition is used in a manual transmission, the amount of brass wear is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6569821
Abstract: An overbased metal detergent having friction-modifying properties comprises colloidal inorganic base particles stably dispersed in an oil of lubricating viscosity. The colloidal particles constitute from 15 to 40 mass % of the detergent, and a stabilizing system constitutes from 20 to 45 mass % thereof, the balance being the oil of lubricating viscosity. The stabilizing system is the mixture obtained by combining an oil-soluble detergent component and from 25 to 75 mass % of an aliphatic amide having from 10 to 30 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 6090757
Abstract: A process of preparing an overbased composition by the reaction of oil soluble organic acids with oxides or hydroxides of, e.g., zinc, copper, cadmium, transition metals, etc. to form a salt. Additional oxides or hydroxides are added along with boric acid and promoters. These overbased metal borates are useful in lubricating oils and fuels.

  • Patent number: 5601747
Abstract: A method of controlling the friction coefficients and improving the friction durability of an oleaginous compositions, such as an ATF, comprising adding to the composition a combination of competing additives comprising (a) at least one friction reducing chemical additive having a polar head group other than a dialkoxylated amino group and a friction reducing substituent group, and at least one non-friction reducing additive (b) having a dialkoxylated amino polar head group and having a substituent group which has no material friction raising or lowering effect (non-friction reducing additive) on the composition.

  • Patent number: 5534168
Abstract: The use of magnesium oxide of specified, low, reactivity in a process for the production of overbased magnesium sulphonates, together with the introduction of water and an alcohol, into the reaction mixture during carbonation, makes it possible to prepare high base number products which have very low post carbonation sediments and which can be purified by rapid filtration.
