Abstract: The present invention provides a grease composition excellent in both rust-proofing properties and safety. The grease composition comprises a lubricating base oil and a thickener, and further comprises a lipophilic organic inhibitor, a nonionic surface active agent and a hydrophilic organic inhibitor selected from the group consisting of lanolin fatty acid derivative and alkanolamine derivative modified with a hydrophilic group each in an amount of from 0.1 to 10% by weight based on the total weight of said grease composition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to at least simply unsaturated polyolefins with a number mean molecular weight in the range of 400 to 1,500 dalton and a dispersibility of M.sub.W /M.sub.N <1.2, obtained through catalytic dimerization from at least simply unsaturated olefin-oligomers, as well as to the method for their production. The present invention further relates to derivatives of these polyolefins which can be obtained by functionalizing at least a double link of the polyolefin. The invention also relates to the use of polyolefins and/or functionalization products as additives for fuels or lubricants.

Abstract: An alkoxylated alkanolamide of general formula (I), ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrocarbon group having 7-35 carbon atoms, preferably 9-23 carbon atoms, A is an alkyleneoxy group having 2-4 carbon atoms, and n is 2-20, preferably 3-12, is used for producing a water-based liquid system with reduced flow resistance between the flowing, water-base liquid system and a solid surface.
Abstract: A corrosion inhibiting lubricating composition comprises:(a) a synthetic ester base stock;(b) at least one aromatic amine antioxidant;(c) a neutral organic phosphate of the formula (R.sup.1 O).sub.3 PO where R.sup.1 is a tolyl, phenyl, xylyl, alkyl or cycloalkyl group, the alkyl or cycloalkyl group having up to 10 carbon atoms;(d) a saturated or unsaturated dicarboxylic acid of the general formula ##STR1## wherein x+y+z is an integer in the range from 2 to 22 inclusive and where at least one of the groups R.sub.1 to R.sub.5 is a carboxylic acid group; or a dicarboxylic acid of one of the three formulae ##STR2## (e) a straight or branched chain saturated or unsaturated monocarboxylic acid which is optionally sulphurised or an ester of such an acid; and(f) a triazole of the formula: ##STR3## or a triazole selected from 1,2,4 triazole, 1,2,3 triazole, 5-anilo-1,2,3,4-thiatriazole, 3-amino-1,2,4 triazole, 1-H-benzotriazole-1-yl-methylisocyanide, methylene-bis-benzotriazole and naphthotriazole.

Abstract: A polyether esteramide reaction product effective as a fuel additive for reducing intake valve deposits and octane requirement increase, as well as controlling combustion chamber deposits, in gasoline engines is disclosed together with fuel compositions and methods of making and using the same. The polyether esteramide reaction product contains two carbonyl groups. Preferably, the polyether esteramide contains an oxalyl group. Also disclosed are compositions and methods for dispersing deposits in lubricating oil products.
Abstract: There are disclosed novel water-soluble metal working fluids comprising polyaspartic acid and salts thereof useful as a lubricant in process to cut, bend, grind and shape both ferrous and non-ferrous metal. The polyaspartic acid and salts thereof are particularly advantageous in that the fluids can be easily disposed of after use without special treatment because polyaspartic acid and salts thereof are readily biodegradable.
