Abstract: A system for cleansing the skin comprises a hydrophobic diamond-mesh sponge and a liquid cleansing and moisturizing composition with excellent lather in the same washing and rinsing operation. The system provides improved lather and overall acceptability for mild liquid cleansing compositions which contain moisturizers and especially for those which would otherwise have marginal lather.

Abstract: A detergent composition, which exerts sufficient detergency and foaming power even in the presence of oily stains comprising an amide ether carboxylate component (a) and an amide ether component (b), wherein the weight ratio of the content of the component (a) to the content of the component (b) is from 0.1 to 100; the molar ratio of the total divalent metal salt ions (X) in the whole composition and to total anionic surfactants (Y) including the component (a) is from 0.025 to 10; and the composition contains substantially no glycerol or glycerol ether component (z) or the content of said component (z) is not more than 10% by weight based on the sum of the contents of the components (a), (b) and (z) as defined in the specification.

Abstract: Surfactant blends that generate a stable spherical foam are disclosed. The surfactant blends contain a nonionic surfactant or an amphoteric surfactant as the principal foaming agent, and a sufficient amount of an acylate lactylate to enhance foam volume and provide a foam that remains in a spherical form for up to about forty minutes. A method of generating a long-lasting foam also is disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a bubble bath composition containing (A) 10-30% by weight of a C.sub.8-18 alkylalkanolamide surfactant or a C.sub.8-18 alkyldimethylamino acetic acid betaine surfactant, (B) 5-20% by weight of an anionic surfactant, C.sub.8-18 alkyl (or polyether-type) sulfate, and (C) 20-80% by weight of a polyol, wherein the ratio by weight of component (A) to component (B) is greater than or equal to 1 and the composition has a viscosity of less than or equal to 1000 cp at 20.degree. C. This composition provides excellent foam producing ability and foam persistence, is readily dispersed in bath water, and imparts moistness to the skin after bathing. The composition of the invention is relaxation due to its rich foam and moisturizing sensation of the skin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing alkylpolyglycoside compositions. Specifically the process is a direct synthesis producing compositions of highly polymerized alkylpolyglycosides in high yield. The invention further relates to alkylpolyglycoside compositions having enhanced surfactant properties. The invention also relates to mixtures of alkylpolyglycosides of preselected average alkyl chain length and controlled average degree of polymerization (DP).

Abstract: A method for improving the foaming property of a nonionic surfactant having a straight-chain alkyl group containing from 10 to 16 carbon atoms, and an HLB value of about 13.5 or more is disclosed, which comprises adding (b) a fatty acid monoglyceride represented by formula (I):R.sup.1 --CO--OCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH (I)wherein R.sup.1 represents a straight-chain alkyl group having from 9 to 15 carbon atoms, to (a) the nonionic surfactant in a (b)/(a) weight ratio of from 2/8 to 6/5. Abstract: A concentrate that is particularly useful as a pearling agent or for preparing emulsions is provided. The concentrate includes from 60 to 90% by weight of a mixture of at least one alkylglycoside of the formula RO(G).sub.x and of at least one alkylglycoside of the formula R'O(G').sub.x '. R represents a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched aliphatic radical containing from 8 to 15 carbon atoms. The subscripts x and x', which are identical or different, represent a number between 1 and 10. Abstract: The invention relates to personal product compositions containing heteroatom containing alkyl aldonamide compounds and skin conditioning agent. Unexpectedly, applicants have found that when these heteroatom containing alkyl aldonamides are used, benefits such as enhanced stability and/or enhanced viscosity are obtained relative to the use of other known thickeners or non-heteroatom containing aldonamides.

Abstract: Water containing detergent mixtures contain an alkyl and/or alkenyl polyglycoside and an anionic or nonionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of: (a) a narrow range fatty alcohol polyglycol ether, (b) a narrow range fatty alcohol ether sulfate, (c) a fatty acid alkanolamide ether sulfate, and (d) a monoglyceryl ether sulfate are superior detergents for dishwashing formulations and for cosmetics.

Abstract: This invention comprises a synthetic surfactant composition which provides ultra skin mildness, and excellent lather. This invention is based on an ultra mild surfactant composition comprising: C.sub.8 alkyl glyceryl ether sulfonate C.sub.8 (AGS). The C.sub.8 AGS offers a remarkable combination of desirable properties for mild cleansing formulations.
