  • Patent number: 5998348
Abstract: An aqueous liquid composition containing dihydrogen phosphate salt, surfactant(s), and a dual coordinate bonding agent for iron cleans soiled metal surfaces without damaging any plastic parts that come into contact with the composition, supporting the growth of bacteria that cause unpleasant odors, or obscuring the transparency of any transparent window that it contacts. The composition is particularly useful for cleaning unpainted aluminum sided rail transport cars that have polycarbonate housings insulating electrical contact points that provide motive electric power to the cars; many conventional aqueous alkaline and acid cleaners promote stress cracking of polycarbonate plastics.

  • Patent number: 5695679
Abstract: There is provided a bleaching composition containing (a) an oxygen-releasing bleaching agent as a source of available oxygen and (b) a non-paraffin oil organic silver coating agent. In one aspect the rate of release of available oxygen is carefully controlled such that the available oxygen is completely released from the composition in a time interval of from 3.5 minutes to 10.0 minutes. In another aspect the composition contains (c) an additional corrosion inhibitor compound.

  • Patent number: 5688755
Abstract: An acidic cleaning aqueous solution for carrying out a low temperature acidic cleaning of aluminum and aluminum alloy and a cleaning method for the same free from harmful fluorine and chromium ions. The acidic cleaning aqueous solution includes oxidized metal ions as an etching promoter, an inorganic acid, a surfactant and a certain amount of polyhydric alcohols having at least two hydroxyl groups directly coupled with two adjacent carbon atoms of a principal chain within one molecule and further includes an oxidizing agent for oxidizing the oxidized metal ions reduced in the cleaning. Certain alcohols in the acidic cleaning aqueous solution can control the oxidative decomposition reaction of the surfactant to obtain a long life acidic cleaning aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 5634979
Abstract: The invention is a cleaning solution for degreasing metal articles which contains at least one chlorine-free nonionic surfactant with an HLB in the range of 6.5 to 9.5; a second chlorine-free nonionic surfactant with an HLB in the range of above 9.5 to about 14; a chlorinated nonionic surfactant, and an alkalinizing agent and optionally also one or more of anionic or amphoteric surfactant; hydrotroping agents; solubilizers; organic builders, and corrosion inhibitors. The preferred composition of the invention can replace a vapor degreasing process for cleaning oil, grease, and waxy-type contaminants from metal articles to the level of cleanliness required in the aerospace industry.
