The polymeric dye transfer inhibiting agents are polyamine N-oxides such as poly(4-vinylpyridine-N-oxide), i.e., PVNO and/or copolymers of N-vinylpyrrolidone and N-vinylimidazole, i.e., PVPVI.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1996Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: William C. Patent number: 5795855Abstract: This invention relates to methods of oxidizing a substrate in the presence of a laccase or a laccase related enzyme and an enhancing agent. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of bleaching of dye in solutions, to a method of inhibiting the transfer of a textile dye from a dyed fabric to another fabric when said fabrics are washed together in a wash liquor, to a method of bleaching of lignin-containing material, in particular bleaching of pulp for paper production, to a method of treatment of waste water from pulp manufacturing, and to a method of enzymatic polymerization and/or modification of lignin or lignin containing material.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1995Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignee: Novo Nordisk A/SInventors: Palle Schneider, Anders Hjelholt Pedersen

Patent number: 5792218Abstract: Nitrile activators, such as N-alkyl ammonium acetonitrile activators, are combined with a source of active oxygen as cleaning and bleaching compositions. Preferred activator embodiments of the invention include salts of N-methyl morpholinium acetonitrile, N-butyl morpholinium acetonitrile, N-hexyl morpholinium acetonitrile, and N-octyl morpholinium acetonitrile. A particularly preferred activator embodiment is an N-methyl morpholinium acetonitrile salt. The nitrile and active oxygen react to form a bleaching agent which is applied to a stain on an article. The treated stain is contacted with dense gas so as to provide substantially non-aqueous stain removal. One embodiment is a composition in which the nitrile and active oxygen are disposed in the dense carbon dioxide.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1996Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: The Clorox CompanyInventors: Vincent E.
