  • Patent number: 5749976
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel cleaning solution for use particularly with automated analyzers used in clinical laboratories and a method of cleaning a surface with the cleaning solution. The solution eliminates problems of cross-contamination of samples due to reagent carryover which can be brought about by an analyzer's probe that dispenses more than one reagent. The solution is particularly suitable for resolving carryover problems in coagulation assays performed with automated systems. The cleaning solution includes a bile salt, an ionic surfactant, sodium ions, and water and has a pH in a range of about 1 to 4.

  • Patent number: 5739093
Abstract: Laundry detergent compositions containing a detergent surfactant, a detergent builder, and from about 0.1% to about 50% by weight ethylene aspartate cysteate sequestrants or its acid form are disclosed. These compositions provide enhanced removal of organic stains, such as food and beverage stains particularly polyphenolic stains such as wine, blueberry, tea, coffee, morello juice and the like.

  • Patent number: 5660821
Abstract: The present invention provides water-soluble, extended-release chemical formulations, in tablet form, for urine pretreatment, that require minimal, if any, use of a binder component, yet are non-dusting, pliable, structurally strong, and not weakened by exposure to aqueous streams. The present invention also provides a simple and reliable method for controlled dispensing of such tableted formulations into a liquid stream that is particularly advantageous for use in micro-gravity environments, such as spacecraft urinal systems.

  • Patent number: 5639722
Abstract: A thickened, buffered aqueous acidic cleaning composition suitable for removing mineral deposits is provided. In one embodiment, the composition comprises a weak acid and its conjugate base wherein the weak acid has a pK.sub.a of approximately 2 to 3.5 and where the composition has a pH of approximately 2 to 3.5. Organic acids, such as citric acid, are particularly suited. The addition of a thickening system comprising cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and sodium xylene sulfonate or alkyl diphenylether sulfonate produces a viscoelastic composition in which the viscosity can be controlled by the level and/or ratio of the surfactant/counterion. Suitable stable adjuncts including fragrances, dyes, organic solvents, disinfectants, and bleaches can be added to the composition.

  • Patent number: 5580846
Abstract: The concentration of Al on silicon surface is reduced to lose its influence on the growth rate of an oxide film during thermal oxidation when semiconductor surface treatment is carried out by a process for treating semiconductor surfaces which comprises a step of cleaning surfaces of semiconductors with a semiconductor surface treating agent comprising an inorganic or organic alkali, hydrogen peroxide and water as major components, and a step of rinsing the resulting surfaces with ultra-pure water, at least one of the semiconductor surface treating agent and the ultra-pure water containing as a complexing agent a compound having three or more ##STR1## groups in the molecule or a salt thereof.
