Abstract: Described are schiff base reaction products of alkyl anthranilates having the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 represents methyl or ethyl; helional having the structure: ##STR2## and aldehydes having the generic structure: ##STR3## wherein R represents a hydrocarbyl or hydroxy hydrocarbyl moiety including the aldehydes:(a) pinoacetaldehyde having the structure: ##STR4## (b) pinoisobutyraldehyde having the structure: ##STR5## and (c) lyral, a mixture of compounds having the structures: ##STR6## and derivatives there and organoleptic uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of consumable materials including perfume compositions, colognes, perfumed articles, foodstuffs, chewing gums and beverages.

Abstract: Bicyclic aliphatic alcohols or formula ##STR1## wherein substituents CH.sub.2 OH and CH.sub.3 are geminally bound to the carbon atom in position 2 or 3 of the hexanic ring and wherein the wavy line stands for a C-H bond of cis or trans configuration. Use of same as perfuming ingredients.

Abstract: The invention relates to 1,2-dialkoxyalkenes of the formula ##STR1## in which R denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, andn denotes an integer from 2 to 8 and to the use of 1,2-dialkoxyalkanes and -alkenes of the formula ##STR2## in which R denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms,n denotes an integer from 2 to 8, and ##STR3## denotes the CH.sub.3 --CH.sub.2 -- or CH.sub.2 50 CH-- group, as scents.

Abstract: Perfume or fragrance compositions containing arbozol to provide a very fresh, outdoor ocean air, woody and ozony odor with a slight cooling effect. The presence of arbozol in such compositions lifts woody and citrus notes, blends and soften harsh notes while imparting a freshness to such compositions and provides improved fixation properties and is excellent as a musk modifier on evaporation or dry-down and modifier of background notes.

Abstract: It was found that ekylic ethers of 2,2,2-trichloro-1-phenylethanol with the general formula A ##STR1## are excellently usable as odoriferous substances, especially as components of perfume oils for cosmetic and technical consumer goods.

Abstract: Substituted 4-methyl-4,7-dihydro-1,3-dioxepins of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is an alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms which may furthermore contain oxygen in the form of an ether group, or a 5-membered to 8-membered ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl groups and/or an alkylene group, has up to 10 carbon atoms and may furthermore contain oxygen in the form of an ether group, and R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen or methyl, with the exception of the compound 2-tert-butyl-4,7-dihydro-4,7-dimethyl-1,3-dioxepin, the preparation of substituted 4-methyl-4,7-dihydro-1,3-dioxepins and their use as scents and aromas, and scent compositions containing these compounds.

Abstract: Aliphatic aldehydes of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl,R.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and the two radicals X are each hydrogen or together form a further C--C bond, in particular2,5,7,7-tetramethyloctanal,2,4,5,7,7-pentamethyloctanal,2-ethyl-5,7,7-trimethyloctanal and2,5,7,7-tetramethyl-2-octen-1-al, are used in scent compositions and are prepared by a process in which an aldehyde of the general formula II ##STR2## is condensed with an aldehyde of the general formula III ##STR3## in the presence of an aldol condensation catalyst to give the substituted octenal of the general formula I, and, if required, the latter is partially hydrogenated or reduced to give the ocorresponding octanal of the formula I.

Abstract: Described is allyl-4-cyclooctenyl glycolate of our invention having the structure: ##STR1## and the perfumery use thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles including solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents, fabric softener compositions, fabric softener articles, hair preparations and cosmetic powders. The genus defined according to the structure: ##STR2## wherein R represents hydrogen, allyl or alkali metal and: represents a covalent bond wherein R represents hydrogen or allyl and an ionic bond where R represents alkali metal defines all of the products of our invention including intermediates useful in the process for preparing the compound having the structure: ##STR3## .

Abstract: Fragrance compositions prepared by adding thereto an olfactorily effective amount of substantially pure 2,4,6-tribromo-3-methylanisole are disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use as perfumes of tertiary, alkyl-substituted alcohols corresponding to the general formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are individually each a C.sub.1-3 alkyl and R.sup.3 is a C.sub.4-9 alkyl, in compositions containing active chlorine, and to such compositions themselves.
