Abstract: Described is an isomer-directed process for producing asymmetric ketones defined according to the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein one of Z.sub.1 or Z.sub.2 is the moiety: ##STR2## and the other of Z.sub.1 or Z.sub.2 is hydrogen; wherein R.sub.11 and R.sub.21 represent hydrogen or the same or different alkyl or alkenyl with the proviso that R.sub.11 and R.sub.21 are not both hydrogen or wherein R.sub.11 and R.sub.21 taken together:(i) complete a cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, bicycloalkyl, mono or polyalkyl cycloalkyl or mono or polyalkyl cycloalkenyl ring, or(ii) represent alkylidene, cycloalkenyl alkylidene, aralkylidene, mono or polyalkyl cycloalkenyl alkylidene or mono or polyalkyl aralkylidene;and wherein R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.

Abstract: Aliphatic aldehydes of the general formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl,R.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and the two radicals X are each hydrogen or together form a further C--C bond, in particular2,5,7,7-tetramethyloctanal,2,4,5,7,7-pentamethyloctanal,2-ethyl-5,7,7-trimethyloctanal and2,5,7,7-tetramethyl-2-octen-1-al, are used in scent compositions and are prepared by a process in which an aldehyde of the general formula II ##STR2## is condensed with an aldehyde of the general formula III ##STR3## in the presence of an aldol condensation catalyst to give the substituted octenal of the general formula I, and, if required, the latter is partially hydrogenated or reduced to give the ocorresponding octanal of the formula I.
Abstract: A process for preparing an aqueous gel which comprises mixing a water-soluble acetoacetylated high molecular compound, a cross-linking agent and water, thereby cross-linking said high molecular compound to form an aqueous gel. According to the process of the invention, an aqueous gel having excellent transparency and small serum-separation, can be prepared at room temperature by only mixing. Also, according to the present invention, there are provided the aqueous gel composition containing perfume or deodorant, and the lubricant and the method for use thereof, which utilizes the process of claim 1.
Abstract: Perfume compositions and perfumed products containing as perfume component one or more 4,7-alkadienals with the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents a straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl group containing 2-5 carbon atoms and wherein the 4-5 double bond has the cis-configuration and the 7-8 double bond can have the cis or trans configuration.
