Abstract: A method of treating an aqueous or non-aqueous system, including paints and adhesives, is described which comprises adding to the system a thiolan of the formula: ##STR1## wherein each of X and Y, which may be the same or different, represents fluorine, chlorine or bromine, in combination with an alkylene bisthiocyanate and a 2-N-alkyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one.

Abstract: The combination of an optical information recording and reproducing medium and a container for storing said optical information recording and reproducing medium, at least one of said optical information recording and reproducing medium and said container comprising a fungicide wherein said fungicide is in a layer selected from the group consisting of a layer comprising fine metal particles dispersed in a hydrophilic colloid dispersion medium; a layer comprising a metal or an alloy formed by a vacuum evaporation method or a sputtering method; and a layer comprising a coloring substance or consisting essentially of a polymeric substance. The invention also provides said medium when it contains a fungicide and a method for making the claimed combination and components thereof.
Abstract: This invention relates to salts of oxyalkylated amino compounds which render normally water insoluble components such as biocides, soluble in water and thereby improving their usefulness and effectiveness. These amino compounds render biocides such as methylene bis(thiocyanate) (MBT) and/or bis(trichloromethyl) sulfone (BTMS) water soluble. The soluble forms of these biocides afford more predictable, consistent and effective biocidal results when applied to systems contaminated with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, algae, molds, and certain yeasts and thus offer considerable advantages over insoluble, dispersible, emulsified forms of these biocides.
Abstract: A superior industrial biocide for treating industrial process waters is afforded in the combination of 1,5-pentanedial and methylene bis thiocyanate.
Abstract: This invention relates to microbicidal/microbistatic compositions for industrial use which comprise 4,5-dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one and an alkylenebisthiocyanate and a method of killing and/or inhibiting the growth of microbes by using the aforementioned compositions.
