Abstract: A nifedipine concentrate stabilized against the influence of light is described, characterized in that it contains nifedipine, polyethylene glycol, from 0.5 to 20% by weight of Vitamin B.sub.2, based on the nifedipine, at least one surface-active agent and optionally conventional carriers. A process for the preparation of the nifedipine concentrate and a medicament containing nifedipine and its use for the production of pharmaceutical preparations are also described.
Abstract: Solutions of urea peroxide in glycerine suitable for use as ear wax removal aid formulations, which solutions have been stabilized by the addition of succinic anhydride thereto.
Abstract: A skin protective composition for topical application to mammalian skin for protection from water washing containing C.sub.18 -C.sub.36 aliphatic wax and anhydrous starch as its principal active waterproofing agents disposed in a water-free carrier.
Abstract: Disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions comprising sorbohydroxamic acid, or pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof, which are useful for topical application to prevent damage to skin caused by acute or chronic UV exposure. Combinations of sorbohydroxamic acid together with tocopherol sorbate and/or sunscreens are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for using these compositions topically, prior to UV exposure, to prevent damage to skin caused by acute or chronic UV exposure.
Abstract: An emulsion cosmetic stably containing vitamin C which comprises a mixture of L-ascorbic acid or a fatty acid ester thereof and an oil, and conventional ingredients for the emulsion cosmetic.
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is disclosed containing, as an agent for protection against light radiation, at least one 2-hydroxydibenzoylmethane of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 independently of one another denote hydrogen or halogen atoms, a straight-chain or branched-chain C.sub.1 to C.sub.12 alkyl group or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 lower alkoxy group and R denotes a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 lower alkyl group, in a cosmetically acceptable medium.
Abstract: Cosmetic screening composition containing a UV screen in combination with a polymer obtained by block polymerization in emulsion and its use for the protection of the human epidermis against ultraviolet radiations.
Abstract: Light-fast capsules for dihydropyridines such as nifedipine and nisoldipine are formed of gelatin colored with a mixture of .beta.-carotene and iron oxide.
Abstract: The present invention provides stabilized pesticidal emulsions in which (5-Benzyl-3-furyl)methyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylpropenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate may be used as the sole active ingredient or in combination with other pesticidal agents without the development of the unpleasant odor characteristic of that compound.
Abstract: The present invention provides stabilized oil-based pesticidal compositions in which (5-Benzyl-3-furyl)methyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylpropenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate may be used as the sole active ingredient or in combination with other pesticidal agents without the development of the unpleasant odor characteristic of that compound.
Abstract: A number of pyrethroid insecticides are photolabile, thus limiting their use outdoors. The non-photolabile pyrethroids often have the disadvantage of lasting too long when used outdoors. Herein, certain toxicologically acceptable compounds are designated which stabilize the normally photolabile pyrethroids and allow them to be used for an extended time period out of doors. The stabilizers have an electron deficient .pi. system and serve to decrease the rate of the photochemical decomposition of the pyrethroid at a given light level.

Abstract: The invention describes a protein derivative which has a molecular weight of 500 to 50,000 and has been chemically modified by grafting onto the protein chain radicals which absorb ultraviolet radiation. Also described are a process for the preparation of this protein derivative and compositions, containing this derivative as the active substance, for treating and protecting the skin and hair against photochemical degradation.
