The Compound Contains Ether Group Patents (Class 516/187)
  • Patent number: 10125326
Abstract: The present invention provides a demulsifier comprising a compound of the general formula (I), a demulsification formulation comprising the demulsifier, methods of making a demulsifier, a method of demulsifying an oil-in-water or a water-in oil emulsion and the use as a demulsifier of a compound comprising a dimer and/or trimer fatty residue and an alkyleneoxy chain comprising a first ethyleneoxy section, a second ethyleneoxy section, and a propyleneoxy section located between the first ethyleneoxy section and the second ethyleneoxy section, wherein the propyleneoxy section comprises from 1 to 20 propyleneoxy groups. The demulsifier may be for use in demulsifying an emulsion, for example crude oil.

  • Patent number: 7923418
Abstract: This invention provides acrylate polymers having at least two different ester groups. The ester groups are selected from the following: a) an aralkyl group; b) a linear alkylether group; c) a polyethoxylated alkylaryl group; and d) a polyethoxylated alkyl group, with the proviso that at least one of said ester groups is selected from b) or d). Processes for preparing such polymers and processes for breaking emulsions with these acrylate polymers are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7569615
Abstract: Disclosed is the use of alkoxylated dendrimers for breaking oil/water emulsions. The alkoxylated dendrimers have a molecular weight of from 2400 to 100 000 g/mol and have been alkoxylated with C2-C4-alkylene oxide groups or a mixture of such alkylene oxide groups such that the alkoxylated dendrimer has a degree of alkoxylation of from 1 to 100 alkylene oxide units per free OH group. The alkoxylated dendrimers are added to the oil/water emulsions in amounts of from 0.0001 to 5% by weight, based on the oil content of the emulsion to be demulsified.

  • Patent number: 7001634
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for suppressing the foaming of an aqueous system which involves combining water and at least one defoamer composition which has a hydroxyl equivalent molecular weight of at least 4000 Da and a cloud point less than or equal to 30° C. in 1% aqueous solution. The high hydroxyl equivalent molecular weight defoamers of the present invention exhibit excellent defoaming properties at a low cloud point. Additionally, defoamers of the present invention exhibit defoaming properties which are better than those of defoamers having the same cloud point which are based on polyoxyalkylene copolymers prepared in the presence of potassium hydroxide. The superior defoaming properties of the defoamers of the present invention are particularly useful in the manufacture or processing of food items.
