Spaced By Unitary Or Contacting U-channels Patents (Class 52/204.595)
  • Patent number: 6935078
Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses an anchor fastener for mating parts to a channel 30 for, e.g., the attachment of muntin in a window 14 design. The end clip 15 of the preferred embodiment is comprised of molded polymeric material having means for aligning the clip with a channel and means for locking the clip to the channel. The clip is comprised of a base 16 having an upwardly extending post 18 that forms means for mounting other parts to the fastener. The post 18 can be of any shape, size or length depending on the part to be mated onto the post. Three spaced apart rails 24, 26 are formed under the base 16 to transversely engage the channel 30 with the center rail 24 also having a transverse slot 36 for matingly locking with the channel. The channel 30 has spaced apart notches 32 with tabs 34 positioned therebetween on opposing sides of the channel.

  • Patent number: 6715244
Abstract: A multi-sheet glazing unit includes a closed spacer frame, the spacer frame has one side having a pair of legs joined to a base to provide the spacer frame with a U-shaped cross-section. An inner sheet has an edge mounted in an edge receiving member mounted between the legs of the U-shaped side of the spacer frame. The remaining edges of the inner sheet are within the interior of the closed spacer frame and spaced from the spacer frame. The inner sheet is held within the spacer frame by sheet retaining members mounted to the spacer frame. A sheet e.g. glass sheet is secured by a moisture-impervious adhesive to outer surface of each of the legs of the spacer frame. One type of sheet retaining members has a horizontal member and a vertical member, and a locking member. The locking member is mounted on the horizontal member spaced from the vertical member to form a groove to hold the inner sheet within the closed interior of the spacer frame.

  • Patent number: 6675550
Abstract: A penetration resistant window includes a penetration resistant layer sandwiched between exterior and interior transparent sheets. The perimeter of the penetration resistant layer extends from the perimeters of the exterior and interior transparent sheets in a direction plane parallel with the planes of the transparent sheets. This extension allows the laminated window sheets to be mounted in a window frame such that the perimeter of the penetration resistant layer is secured within a channel in the frame, preferably by an adhesive such as silicone glue. The penetration resistant window is useful in architectural, residential and institutional applications for resisting debris penetration during hurricanes.

  • Patent number: 6438911
Abstract: The sizable plastic back-up shear plate is laterally disposed with generally a spring fit into the outwardly facing mouth of a metal window frame. For windows having smaller mouths, the shear plate is cut along a discardable edge portion. The outwardly facing mouth is formed and defined by the window frame elongated hollow body and particularly by outer wall elements which face each other in an opposing manner. The plastic back-up shear plate has laterally disposed opposite outer edge portions which are interlockable on corresponding outer wall elements of hollow body metal window frame which wall elements define the mouth of the window frame. An intermediately disposed locking lip is utilized on smaller frame mouth after cutting or separating off the bread away edge portion. The plastic back-up shear plate has a lateral dimension slightly larger than the lateral mouth dimension and thereby achieves a spring fit.

  • Patent number: 6295788
Abstract: An insert for a glazing unit includes a body having a width and a height. The insert is configured to fit within the spacer of the glazing unit. A typical glazing unit has at least two outer glazing sheets separated by a substantially rigid, U-shaped spacer disposed about the perimeter of the sheets to create an interior cavity between the outer sheets and the spacer. The width and height of the body of the insert are adapted to allow the insert to fit within the U-shaped spacer. The spacer has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the perimeter of the glazing sheets. The body of the insert also has a longitudinal length dimension substantially equal to the length of the spacer. The body of the insert is fabricated from a non-flowable material having substantially stable dimensions. In one embodiment of the invention, the insert includes an inwardly facing, intermediate glazing sheet-receiving channel that is adapted to slidably receive and position an intermediate glazing sheet.
