  • Patent number: 4897971
Abstract: The present invention relates to fabricated metal toilet stall panels comprising opposed panel sheets, each having flanged edges which cooperate to define an essentially hollow core. The panels at the flanged edges include an inwardly directed sealing flange in abutting opposed relation with the like sealing flange of the opposed panel sheet. The metal panels are at least primarily secured to each other by an adhesive seal between the sealing flanges. The method of the present application comprises forming of the metal panels, including the flanged edges with the inwardly directed sealing flange, placing opposed panels in abutting contact such that the sealing flanges generally engage, applying an adhesive between the sealing flanges, and maintaining the particular relationship of the panel sheets until the adhesive has cured to an extend sufficient to maintain the engagement of the panels.

  • Patent number: 4837997
Abstract: A sealing system for sealing the joints defined by three intersecting structural surfaces such as the top surface of a tub and two adjoining walls includes three generally L-shaped sealing strips and a corner piece for covering the corner where the joints meet and the end portions of the three sealing strips. The sealing strips and corner piece are held in place against the structural surfaces with a suitable adhesive and have flexible lips along their edges which press against the underlying surfaces adjacent the joints to be sealed. The corner piece has three connected walls, each one generally parallel to one of the three structural surfaces which define the joints to be sealed. Two lands project rearwardly from the corner piece, each land projecting toward a respective one of the structural surfaces. Each land defines the minimum distance between the end of one of the sealing strips and the corner, and between them the lands define a space for receiving the third sealing strip.

Abstract: An improved decorative molding system for covering the joint formed between a countertop surface and an adjacent wall surface. The system includes a molding strip for covering the joint, the molding strip having an L-shape formed by a pair of integrally joined legs. The legs have respective outside surfaces together forming a gradually curved, generally concave front face of the strip and respective inside surfaces which are generally planar and substantially perpendicular. The legs have bifurcated inner portions together forming outside and inside walls. The outside and inside walls are relatively gradually and sharply curved, respectively, and merge together at their outer ends to define therebetween a hollow cavity which is generally triangular in cross-sectional shape. Each leg has a flared outer edge portion which angles inwardly with respect to the planar extent of the inside surface of the leg.

  • Patent number: 3996705
Abstract: A wall facing for use as a tub surround and other wall facing applications. The facing comprises a preformed relatively stiff though flexible facing sheet of formed plastic or other suitable material having two or more adjacent generally planar panel sections and a rearwardly projecting channel-like fold between and joining each pair of adjacent panel sections. Each fold has a rear flexible hinge portion about which the facing sheet may be bent to a folded configuration wherein the junctures of the fold wall with the adjacent panel sections abut and the adjacent panel sections are disposed in oblique angular relation to conform to a corner between two mounting wall surfaces. The junctures may be arcuately shaped to form a recess between the abutting junctures in the folded configuration of the facing sheet for receiving a filler or sealant material.

  • Patent number: 3992825
Abstract: The combination of a sheet of individual tiles attached together being mounted to a fiber glass shell and the method of constructing same. A plurality of panels are attached by adhesive means to a fiber glass shell. Each panel includes a plurality of individual tiles having edge portions attached to the edge portions of adjacent tile. The panels and the fiber glass shell are produced at a location remote from the final construction site. The fiber glass shell, configured as a shower stall or as a bathtub enclosure, is attached to a plurality of upright wooden studs. Tabs are provided on the fiber glass shell to receive conventional fastening devices extending into the studs. The fiber glass shell is provided with a rough, inwardly facing surface which adhesively receives the plurality of panels. In one embodiment, the shell includes a thickened top rib positioned flush with the panels whereas another embodiment includes a trim strip blending the panels into the shell.

  • Patent number: 3978529
Abstract: A combination of pre-dimensioned and pre-engineered modular units which form at least a powder room within a room section of a building structure and a method of assembling same. The assemblage includes an interface unit having a drain-waste-vent piping system for the room, the unit being mounted to the surface of the "wet wall" of the room. The walls of the room may be either partially finished or completely finished at the time of assembly of the facility. The interface unit provides a unique template for locating the positions of, and for installing the components of the facility. By extending the powder room assemblage to include a bathtub and shower section, a unique full bathroom may be assembled in a very short time according to the method of the invention by persons of limited skills.

  • Patent number: 3977136
Abstract: Wall paneling includes a pair of corner panels, a center panel, and a pair of end panels, each of a molded unit construction. The corner panels have a pair of right-angular walls and the other panels are flat. Each of the end and center panels have upright marginal enlargements terminating in edge flanges. The inner enlargement of the end panels and both enlargements of the center panel adjustably overlap and receive therein a corresponding portion of a wall of a corner panel and are coplaner therewith respectively. The end panels extend at right angles to the center panels. Adhesive is interposed between the overlapped portions of the end and center panels and corresponding corner panel. Said paneling may be used for covering the end and back walls of tub enclosures.
