  • Patent number: 10941794
Abstract: An arrangement which has a first component and a second component fastened to each other in a clamping manner. At least the first or second component is a fiber/plastic composite component. The arrangement has a securing element which generates a pressing force that presses the components against each other such that the components are secured to each other in a clamped manner. A friction-coefficient-increasing element is arranged between the first and second components in a pressing region in which the first and second components are pressed against each other by the pressing force. The friction-coefficient-increasing element increases a static friction produced for the pressing force in contrast to a case in which such an element is not arranged in the pressing region. The invention also provides a method for fastening the first component to the second component.

  • Patent number: 9752317
Abstract: In order to provide a heat-insulating system which is intended for the vertical, load-dissipating connection of building parts to be produced from concrete and can be used in a variable manner and adapted, in accordance with the respective static requirements, to a large number of applications, the invention specifies a heat-insulating system which has an insulation body and one or more compressive force-carrying elements. The insulation body is configured with a plurality of apertures, which extend vertically therethrough from an upper side to an underside and into which a variable number of the compressive force-carrying elements, formed as individual compressive force-carrying elements, can be inserted. It is thus possible for the number and/or the nature of the individual compressive force-carrying elements to be adapted to the static requirements present in each case, and therefore the heat-insulating system is suitable for a large number of different applications.

  • Patent number: 7080491
Abstract: A modular center plate for a cover that bridges the expansion gap and is supported by frame members of an expansion joint cover is made up of a plurality of formed members, each formed member being rectangular in plan and of uniform cross-section along an axis and having side edges parallel to the axis. The formed members are arranged with their side edges adjacent each other and with their ends overlying the support surfaces of the frame members of the expansion joint cover. End frame members are attached to the end edges of the formed members.

  • Patent number: 6751918
Abstract: A cover assembly includes an elongated resilient cover for bridging a gap between horizontal structural members. The upper face surface of the resilient cover has spaced apart ribs extending transverse to the flow of traffic and an opposite surface formed with load bearing edge portions engaged for support with opposite lateral margins to the expansion joint. Between the load bearing edge portions the cover supports at least one rigid metal plate. In one embodiment, a central plate bridges the gap between two structural members and the at least two additional plates serve to urge the opposite lateral edges of the cover into supporting engagement with structural members. The cover has a thickness and sufficient elasticity to elastically deform for establishing supporting contact between the marginal support areas and underlying horizontal structural members.

  • Patent number: 6499265
Abstract: An expansion joint cover for bridging an expansion gap between first and second building floor members has a pivot frame adapted to be affixed to the first building floor member, the pivot frame including a base portion and a longitudinally continuous bearing of spherical cross-section supported by and located above the base portion, and a slide frame adapted to be affixed to the second building floor member. A cover unit is pivotally mounted in spaced-apart relation to a proximal end thereof on the bearing in cantilevered relation to the bearing, is adapted to span the gap, and has a distal end supported on the slide frame. A plurality of spaced-apart compression spring units engaged between the base portion of the pivot frame and a portion of the cover unit intermediate the proximal end and the bearing bias the cover unit about the bearing so as to forcibly engage the distal end of the cover unit with the slide frame.

  • Patent number: 6484462
Abstract: A seismic expansion joint cover includes a bridge panel having one end supported for movement in the y-axis direction and against movement in the x-axis direction relative to a floor A on one side of a motion-absorbing gap and supported at the other end for movement in the x-axis direction and against movement in the y-axis direction relative to a floor B. A recess in floor B receives a portion of the bridge panel in all positions of the bridge panel relative to floor B. A recess cover plate covers the recess, is supported at one end in sliding relation on the bridge panel in all positions of the bridge panel relative to floor B and is joined at the other end to an end member of the recess frame remote from the gap. A resiliently collapsible/extensible honeycomb panel received in the recess in floor B supports the portion of the recess cover plate that spans the recess between the end of the bridge panel and the end member of the recess frame.

  • Patent number: 6219982
Abstract: Variable gaps between adjacent concrete panels are covered and sealed by a T-shaped body of extruded semi-rigid plastics material and which includes a one piece cover section and stem section of generally uniform wall thickness. The stem section has a set of parallel spaced flexible fins projecting from each side at an angle of 45° towards the cover section, and the fins increase in width from the distal end of the stem section towards the cover section. Each fin has parallel spaced triangular gripping ribs on its side facing away from the cover section for gripping opposing concrete surfaces defining gaps ranging generally from ½″ to 1¼″. In one embodiment, the cover section has a slightly crowned intermediate portion with tapered opposite edge portions, and in other embodiments, the intermediate portion is curved or configured to cover gaps defined within outside and inside corners formed by adjacent panels.

  • Patent number: 5815988
Abstract: An expandable retractable portable structure having a movable portion hingedly connected to a stationary portion and wherein the movable portion pivotally encloses the stationary portion of the structure in its retracted position and wherein, in its expanded position, the structure provides maximum interior space for use. An actuating mechanism includes one or more hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders connected to a linkage system. The actuator is located inside the structure on the floor of the stationary portion and the linkage system driven by the actuator is connected to the floor of the movable portion so that the movable portion is rotated by the actuator and linkage system between its expanded and retracted positions. The actuator and linkage system are removably mounted inside the structure and may be readily removed from the structure and used to open or close other structures. Alternatively, the actuator may be left inside the structure.
