  • Patent number: 11181315
Abstract: An enclosure for use as a walk-in freezer or refrigerator includes a first panel and a second panel connected to the first panel. Each of the first and second panels includes a body having a frame coupled to the body. The frame includes a beam of a first material and a jacket of a second material at least partially enclosing the beam. An interior edge of the frame is adjacent to the body. • Patent number: 11085193
Abstract: A peripheral stabilizing system for elevated flooring surfaces that is configured to resist uplift forces acting against the elevated flooring surface thereby reducing the likelihood of dislodged flooring units (e.g., surface tiles, pavers, etc.) and the like. Broadly, the disclosed system includes a support structure disposed over a fixed surface (e.g., roof deck or the like), a plurality of flooring units appropriately laid over the support structure, and one or more restraint systems positionable adjacent the outer periphery of the flooring surface. Each restraint system includes an anchoring member disposed over the outer periphery and a wedge member insertable between the anchoring member and the wall to frictionally grip the anchoring member and wall and thereby restrict movement of at least one of the peripheral flooring units in a direction away from the fixed surface.

  • Patent number: 8955282
Abstract: The invention relates to the Soloarmar construction system comprising an original wall construction method, in which the cavities in the blocks are precisely aligned in the vertical axis. According to the invention, the blocks are assembled using an inner engagement device such that resistant masonry can be produced quickly and specially adapted for clay or concrete blocks using specific industrial templates, machines, nozzles and dies designed by Soloarmar. The appearance and characteristics obtained are similar to those obtained with standard masonry techniques, but with the mixture only being used to lay the first course instead of between all of the blocks.

  • Patent number: 8132380
Abstract: A compliant trim for use between concrete slabs is disclosed, intended for the replacement of wood commonly used for formwork to divide concrete slabs. The compliant trim is easily inserted into the space cleared of wood, will not migrate deeper into the space, and is therefore independent of the depth of the cleared space beyond a minimum needed for installation. Additionally, the compliant trim lies flush or below the surface of slabs which have edge radii, making it relatively unaffected by foot traffic, vehicles, and the like. The trim may be extruded, may be manufactured from recycled materials, and remains compliant to allow for joint expansion and contraction.

  • Patent number: 7506480
Abstract: A system and method are provided for forming expansion joints within artificial ground cover. An elongated expansion joint support is coupled with a length of expansion joint material. A lower end portion of the expansion joint support is shaped to engage a ground surface. The two structures may be coupled with one another in different positions to vary the resulting expansion joint height. The lower end portion of the expansion joint support may be shaped to have a ground engagement wall and to receive ground engagement spikes. No component parts need be removed from the system after the application of artificial ground cover adjacent thereto, thus permitting simultaneous application of ground cover on both sides of the expansion joint.

  • Patent number: 7143560
Abstract: A cover assembly includes an elongated resilient cover for bridging a gap between horizontal structural members. The upper face surface of the resilient cover has spaced apart ribs extending transverse to the flow of traffic and an opposite surface formed with load bearing edge portions engaged for support with opposite lateral margins to the expansion joint. Between the load bearing edge portions the cover supports at least one rigid metal plate. In one embodiment, a central plate bridges the gap between two structural members and the at least two additional plates serve to urge the opposite lateral edges of the cover into supporting engagement with structural members. The cover has a thickness and sufficient elasticity to elastically deform for establishing supporting contact between the marginal support areas and underlying horizontal structural members.

  • Patent number: 7090226
Abstract: An insert, or gasket, intended to be used at a joint between two panels. The insert is preferably pre-formed into a particular cross-sectional shape such that it can be easily, and securely, installed between two panels. Preferably, the insert is shaped, in cross-section, with one flange on each end, such that upon installation, one flange is seated on the front side of the panels and the other flange is seated on the rear side of the panels. In the preferred embodiment, the first and second flange portions may include a pair of lips, and the lip of the second flange portion is of a thickness that is greater than that of the lip of the first flange portion. Such a configuration facilitates installation. The present invention also relates to a method of installing such an insert.

  • Patent number: 6823640
Abstract: A family of light-weight, durable, resilient tile spacers adapted for insertion into intersecting joint spaces between tile courses, and to be left in place after the spaces have been filled with grout. Each spacer has a plurality of thin-walled hollow limbs that project radially into the intersecting joint spaces. The side walls of the limbs are compressed by the tiles on either side of the joint spaces, the amount of compression being limited by the abutment of structural elements formed on the inner faces of the side walls with stops positioned within the limbs. In one embodiment of the invention, pairs of structural elements are mounted to the limbs' respective side walls. In another, pairs of structural elements are mounted to both of the limbs' side walls. Grout figs the submerged hollow limbs during the grouting process and upon curing permanently seals and immobilizes the spacer.

  • Patent number: 6751919
Abstract: A sealing element for the recessed seat of an expansion joint in a concrete structure having an elastomeric profile (20) formed by two longitudinal lateral flanges (21) to be fixed to the end edges of the concrete structure (11), and a central portion (22) formed by walls depending from said flanges and converging to a central area to be fitted inside the seat (12), and shaped to support the hydrostatic pressure upstream of the concrete structure (10). A flexible duct (30) is installed inside the seat (12) below the central portion central area and provided with radial bores (31) opened to the inside of the seat to allow the selective feeding of precatalyzed polymeric resin to the inside of the seat (12), after the elastomeric profile (20) has been mounted and affixed to the concrete structure (10). The tube can be separate from the profile, attached to the central area, or the central area can have a W shape and the tube be within the lower portion of the W.

  • Patent number: 6484462
Abstract: A seismic expansion joint cover includes a bridge panel having one end supported for movement in the y-axis direction and against movement in the x-axis direction relative to a floor A on one side of a motion-absorbing gap and supported at the other end for movement in the x-axis direction and against movement in the y-axis direction relative to a floor B. A recess in floor B receives a portion of the bridge panel in all positions of the bridge panel relative to floor B. A recess cover plate covers the recess, is supported at one end in sliding relation on the bridge panel in all positions of the bridge panel relative to floor B and is joined at the other end to an end member of the recess frame remote from the gap. A resiliently collapsible/extensible honeycomb panel received in the recess in floor B supports the portion of the recess cover plate that spans the recess between the end of the bridge panel and the end member of the recess frame.
