Patent number: 4193242Abstract: A roofing system of the batten type using sheet metal components only. The battens are formed by folding the side edge portions of adjacent pan sections to form securing channels and upstanding side walls. The side walls are folded inwardly away from the securing channels and then downwardly to form downwardly projecting lips spaced inwardly and intermediate of the height of the side walls and a closure cap is slidable along the top edges of the side walls and in engagement with the downwardly projecting lips of adjacent pan sections to bridge and seal the gap formed between the adjacent side walls above the abutting securing channels, the securing channels being held down on the underlying roof structure by fastening screws.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1978Date of Patent: March 18, 1980Inventor: Louis L. Patent number: 4192113Abstract: A covering and sealing assembly for concealing and sealing the gap between a pair of edge adjoining wall panels which are disposed at an angle to each other, such as at a corner. The assembly includes an exterior trim piece, a supporting member for the exterior trim piece, fastening means to tighten the supporting and clamping members together to squeeze the edges of the panels at the corner and to thus provide a structural tie therebetween, and an interior trim piece which snaps over the free vertical edges of the clamping member and hides the fastening means and the clamping member. The structural tie between the two corner panels is effected by the squeezing action of the legs of the supporting member and of the clamping member upon the faces of the adjoining wall panels at the points of contact between the faces and the supporting and clamping members.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1978Date of Patent: March 11, 1980Assignee: Armco Inc.Inventor: Mulford Martin, Jr.

Patent number: 4184299Abstract: A roof construction having supporting purlins or the like. It includes a plurality of support clips secured to the purlins, with each support clip having a flat upper portion having a slot therein. A plurality of roof panels having an upstanding seam portion along each long side thereof, with each seam portion overlaying at least two of the support clips and each of the seam portions having downwardly facing shoulders. The construction includes a plurality of generally spear shaped fastener clips inserted between the adjacent seam portions of two adjacent panels, with each of the clips extending downwardly through one of the slots engaging one of the support clips. The upper ends of each of the fastener clips have means for engaging the two adjacent seam portions to thereby secure the panel to the support clips. An elongated cap is provided for covering the adjacent seam portions and engaging the shoulders presented by the seam portions, to seal the seams.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1978Date of Patent: January 22, 1980Assignee: A & S Building Systems, Inc.Inventor: James R. Patent number: 4158938Abstract: At each joint between pairs of adjacent foam panels, a vertical edge portion of one of the panels encases a major portion of the periphery of each of a plurality of vertically spaced cylindrical double socket members and a vertical edge portion of the other of the panels is correspondingly recessed to receive minor portions of the periphery of the socket members protruding from the one panel. Also at each joint, two vertically elongated clamps are secured respectively on opposite sides of the panels by pairs of screws, the screws of each pair being threaded respectively into opposite sockets of one of the double sockets. Opposite vertical edge portions of each clamp are vertically grooved on the side of the clamp facing the panels for respectively receiving a pair of gaskets.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1977Date of Patent: June 26, 1979Assignee: Owens-Corning Fiberglas CorporationInventors: Robert M. Patent number: 4114330Abstract: A modular skylight system comprises a continuous sill for supporting a lower edge of a plurality of panel frames, each pre-assembled and having a lower edge member interlocked on the sill. Each frame includes a pair of upwardly sloping side frame members adapted to be secured and interlocked to those of adjacent members and attached at their lower ends to the lower edge member. All of the frame members include an elongated glazing pocket for receiving an edge portion of a glazing panel and they also provide gutter structure for collecting liquid from the glazing panel and for carrying the liquid down to the sill for discharge therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1976Date of Patent: September 19, 1978Assignee: Kawneer Company, Inc.Inventor: Ronald D. Patent number: 4074486Abstract: A panel wall construction using box-tee sheet metal shapes wherein the panels may be inserted in channels of the sheet metal shape or clips may be inserted in slots between the channels of the sheet metal shapes to hold the panels. These same shapes may be used for mullions, base sills, top caps and horizontal stiffeners and horizontal joint assemblies thereby producing a panel wall system wherein no screw-type fasteners are required to hold the panels in place. Disclosed clips hold the box-tee sheet metal shapes and the panels. The disclosed panel wall construction provides a very light weight construction which has great flexibility with respect to panel thickness and width as well as great flexibility of design to accommodate wind loadings.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1976Date of Patent: February 21, 1978Assignee: Multuloc CorporationInventor: Kenneth R.
