Patent number: 5606838Abstract: A roof panel attachment clip includes a bracket having an upper flange, and a sliding member which supports one or more tabs. The sliding member and the bracket have alignable openings such as slots above a hole for receiving a bolt which connects the bracket to a purlin. The openings are sized to receive the shaft of an installation tool, such as a socket wrench, and must be aligned in order to get the wrench properly on the fastener. The installer is thus assisted in centering the tabs in the slots as he connects the bracket to the purlin. Once the tool is withdrawn, it is possible to slide the tabs out of position, but a biasing force between the sliding member and the bracket resists such movement.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: Butler Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 4575983Abstract: A sliding clip for a floating standing seam roof for allowing buckling of the roof panels to relieve excessive thermal expansion. The relative arrangement of the stops which limit the motion of the upper clip portion in respect of the lower clip portion is asymmetrical to allow a greater amplitude of motion of the upper clip portion toward the fixed ends of the roof panels caused by contraction than is permitted toward the floating ends of the roof panels caused by expansion. This prevents destruction of the clips or of the fasteners for the fixed ends. It also prevents rupture of the panels themselves at their fixed ends.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1985Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: Nucor CorporationInventors: Hamilton Lott, Jr., Lynn E. Patent number: 4424655Abstract: A siding panel system is provided including a clip device located between overlapping and interlocking siding panels to restrain movement of a horizontal siding panel which may become disengaged from an adjacent lower course of siding due to wood floor joist shrinkage in the vertical direction. The siding panels generally have a fastening portion along the upper edge and a longitudinal groove opening away from the upper edge on the panel face below the fastening portion. A hooked flange portion along the lower panel edge projects at an angle toward the panel back for engagement with the groove on the face of an adjacent panel. The clip device includes an upper fastening leg having a generally vertically elongated opening therethrough and an integral medial leg projecting downwardly from the terminal end of the fastening leg and outwardly from the building structure.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1981Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Assignee: Aluminum Company of AmericaInventor: John W. Patent number: 4422278Abstract: A panel fitting device comprises a main part made of wire rod or plate material and a pressing part made of the same material connected together at one end so that they form a clearance for receiving an upper panel, and the other end of the main part has a supporting leg to hitch a base material such as a C-shaped channel. When the base material is hitched by the supporting leg and the main part and the pressing part are turned clockwise, the top part of the lower panel is caught between the main part and the base material, and then, the bottom end of an upper panel is inserted into the aforementioned clearance and the upper and lower panels can thus be easily installed.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1981Date of Patent: December 27, 1983Assignee: Toko Kogyo Co.Ltd.Inventors: Sanae Fujihiro, Sigeyaki Matuda
