Upholstery Trim Patents (Class 52/716.3)
  • Patent number: 7842207
Abstract: The panel-like laminate comprises a flexible skin (1), a rigid substrate (2) and an intermediate layer (3). The flexible skin (1) comprises a main part (8) which forms the front side of the laminate and at least one flange (9) which extends from the main part (8) of the skin towards the substrate (2) to form at least a portion of the lateral side of the laminate. In order to avoid foam leakage when molding the intermediate layer (3) between the skin (1) and the substrate (2), the flange (9) is extended by a border part (10) which comprises a flexible lip (11). The flexible lip is pressed against the rigid substrate (2) so that the flexible lip (11) forms a seal between the skin and the substrate. To prevent deformation of the skin, the border part (10) of the skin further comprises at least one continuous or discontinuous ridge (12) which extends along the flange (9) of the skin (1) and which prevents a sliding of this border part when closing the mold.

  • Patent number: 7608316
Abstract: An extruded product formed by extrusion molding and continuing in a longitudinal direction includes: an extruded product body; and a decoration layer provided integrally on a surface of the extruded product body, wherein the decoration layer is provided on a substantially entire surface of the decoration layer by combining an irregular surface pattern and a plurality of linear grooves on the surface thereof, and the depth of the linear groove is deeper than the depth of the irregular surface pattern.

  • Patent number: 7559598
Abstract: A trim panel (10) includes at least one integrally-formed first member (12) and at least one integrally-formed second member (14) extend from an outboard surface (16) of the trim panel (10). The at least one integrally-formed first member (12) engages an inboard surface (42) of a barrier (36) to push the barrier (36) in an outboard direction. The at least one integrally-formed second member (14) extends through an opening or perforation (40) of the barrier (36) to retain the barrier (36) to the trim panel (10). The barrier (36) may be a water/acoustic ingression barrier (36). The at least one integrally-formed first member (12) causes an adhesive bead (44) arranged on an outboard surface (46) of the barrier (36) to positively engage an inboard surface (48) of an inner door panel (38). The at least one integrally-formed second member (14) extends through an opening or perforation (40) of the barrier (36) to retain the barrier (36) with the interior door trim panel (10).

  • Patent number: 7010892
Abstract: A non-deformable laminated trim molding is provided to form watertight sealing between laminated panel members such as a counter top and a wall. The trim molding is laminated prior to installation so that the color of the laminated trim molding is related to the color of the laminated counter top. The trim molding includes a part to fit between panel members such as between a counter top and a wall or between a counter top and a back splash. A sealant layer between the laminated panel member and the laminated trim molding prevents water or other liquids from penetrating through to the substrate of the counter top, which is usually wood.

  • Patent number: 6349987
Abstract: The present invention provides a composite part that includes a semi-rigid interior part and a rigid exterior part. A sheet of flexible material (1) is given rigidifying additives and is molded before being inserted into an injection mold that adds a rigid thermoplastic strip to the edges of the said sheet. The invention is primarily suitable for producing parts for the automotive industry.

  • Patent number: 6214157
Abstract: A trim component (1) for an automobile or the like includes a substrate (2) and two different cover materials such as a cover film (3) and a cover cloth (4). The two cover materials (3, 4) are not spliced together, but instead are independently adhesively bonded directly onto the substrate (2) by a hot-melt contact adhesion. The junction (7) is received in a valley (6) of the substrate (2) that is pinched closed during molding of the trim component. For forming the trim component, a molding apparatus includes a horizontally movable pinching stamp (13) that forms a pinching gap (16) relative to a protruding edge (11A) of a fixed mold tool (11). A tucking blade (22) presses the substrate and junction (7) of the cover sheets into the pinching gap (16), and is then retracted while the pinching stamp (13) pinches closed the pinching gap (16).
