  • Patent number: 7234277
Abstract: A rescue apparatus mounted inside buildings where people currently live and spend their activities and in regions with high seismic potential includes a rescue cabin with a reinforcing frame, covered on an exterior side with corrugated iron and on an interior side with plastic fire-resistant and with low grade of softness material. The cabin has compartments, in which there is a chair with head support, a backrest, a safety harness, and a crash helmet. For damping vertical shocks, under each chair is a damper spring. Access into the cabin is accomplished by two doors with contradiction opening and vertical rotation axles solidly with the two central doors of the furniture part by a lever device and open together therewith. Each door has a locking mechanism driven from inside or outside the cabin. An upper part of the cabin has windows for ventilation, each equipped with a screen filter for dust.

  • Patent number: 6920721
Abstract: Off-site factory built structure employs a chassis including two interior longitudinal beam members joined at their ends to a perimeter structure. A floor system is integrated within the chassis perimeter. A ledger member is fixed to the inner surface of each longitudinal perimeter member so that a top surface lies in a plane coincident with top surfaces of the interior longitudinal beams. Lateral members are coupled to the tops of the interior longitudinal beams and to the top of the ledger members. The lateral members include secondary stiffening members such as C-channel members, metal Z-channel members, or other metal members of similar structural capacity, spaced apart from each other by a maximum distance S, related to the width of the floor system W, by the equation: S 12?½W.

  • Patent number: 6907695
Abstract: A substantially preassembled modular frame system for erecting permanent school buildings. The system design, materials, and construction have been pre-approved by state inspectors. The system provides a roof that is extensible from a low position that is configured to permit the system to be transported on highways and fit under common overpasses and bridges to a pitched position that provides a sloped roof profile to improve insulation factors of completed buildings and better shed rain, snow, and debris. The system includes anchor assemblies that are rigidly connected to the frame to inhibit uplift forces acting on the building from distorting or dislodging the building from the foundation. The system also includes preassembled wall panels and a convenient mechanism for emplacing and securing the wall panels within the modular frames.

  • Patent number: 6675540
Abstract: A robust portable building for use by persons for meetings, classroom use, entertainment facilities, trade show displays, or for human habitation, which provides an entry height of only seventeen inches above ground surface and which has the look, feel, and strength of a permanent structure. The building will withstand tornadic and hurricane level winds without the requirement of tie downs or permanent installation on a foundation. The structural members of the building are primarily steel components. A rigid steel frame is supported on pairs of steel rollers each of which has a diameter which is approximately equal in size to its surface width. All structural components are screwed or welded at their junctions with other structural components. A sheet of aluminum is mechanically fixed to the upper sides of the floor joists, over which are placed additional flooring layers. Each layer is fastened securely to the floor joists.

  • Publication number: 20020152699
Abstract: A strut for supporting services between parallel spaced apart I-beam flooring joists is described. The strut has a main section adapted to fit transversely between the two joists and has two end regions which extend beyond and above the main section for resting on the joists, so that the main section is supported so as to extend between the two beams below or in line with the upper faces of the joists. This enables services such as cables, ducting or pipes to be supported below the floorboarding carried by the joists. A number of such struts are located at intervals along the length of the joists in the form of the rungs of a ladder to enable lengths of cables, ducting or pipes to be supported below the floorboarding. A building component comprising a moulding is preferably secured to the top surface of each joist along the length thereof between the struts. The moulding has a rebate along its length to provide a ledge on which a floorboard edge can rest.

  • Patent number: 6389761
Abstract: An earthquake resistant support structure for an existing residential room comprises four corner members anchored to each of the wall surfaces at each of the vertical corners within the room and four straight bars mounted between the corner members for preventing the walls from forcibly breaking apart during an earthquake. The earthquake resistant support structure further comprises a pair of cables extending diagonally between the opposite corner members for protecting occupants of the room from falling ceiling that might be generated during an earthquake. When the earthquake resistant support structure is properly incorporated into every room within a building, the system of support structures add strength to the existing framework of the building, thereby preventing severe cracking or falling or walls and ceilings during an earthquake.

  • Patent number: 6349511
Abstract: A gazebo is fabricated utilizing a novel construction system wherein lightweight aluminum framing components are employed. A preferred structure has eight sides wherein each side includes a pair of vertical posts, a pair of header members, a rail and foot member, columns disposed between the rail and foot member and the pair of header members, and an insulated composite roof panel. An entrance way is void of the rail and foot member, but can be employed with the necessary framing components to attach a door. As each side unit is attached by self mating beam and vertical post members to an adjacent side unit, the gazebo structure is formed. A crown portion can be attached upon an apex of the gazebo. Shingles or tiles can be attached upon the roof panels. Spline grooves formed along the vertical posts permit the gazebo to be “screened in.
