Abstract: An anchor for a building which is temporarily located upon the ground without a permanent foundation. The building has base plates at its margins which rest upon ground plates anchored in the earth and carrying locater members engaged by the base plates. Elongated auger type earth penetrating anchors are located at spaced points adjacent the base plates and carry adapters pivotally mounting locking members each having an end overlying a base plate. An adjustable member on each adapter urges the associated locking member into firm overlying anchoring engagement with a base plate.
Abstract: The following specification discloses a mobile home support having means for supporting a mobile home during earthquake tremors and wind storms to prevent the collapse thereof. The support comprises an axle support which supports the normally spring weight and is formed from a plate supported by upright stanchions for purposes of accommodating the bolts or lugs of the wheel drums of the mobile home. The stanchions are braced with cross members in angular relationship for purposes of allowing cross lateral stresses to be absorbed within the structure on a basis providing both lateral and axial support. The axle of the mobile home is attached to the cross members with a bracket, thereby creating a cross linked stress support in angularly oriented relationship providing support under the normally sprung load of the mobile home in combination with the axle.
Abstract: An anchoring system for use in anchoring structures such as mobile homes to the ground by use of elongated flexible belts. The belt is wound so as to be firmly clamped by its own tension.
Abstract: An arm is pivoted to the main longitudinal beams of a mobile home. A base plate on the end of the arm is held firmly against the ground by stake pins driven through holes in the plate. The tie-down strap extending over the mobile home is attached to a clip on the base plate. A gear and worm mechanical arrangement is used to maintain torque on the arm at the beam. When the mobile home is moved, the arm is conveniently raised against the bottom of the floorboards of the mobile home.
Abstract: An anchor device adapted for securing mobile, modular and motor homes, trailers, campers and similar units, having an anchor for insertion into the ground on opposite sides of the unit, and a strap, cable or other flexible member extending over the unit from one anchor to the other. The device is mounted on the anchor and has U-shaped body and a reel shaft on which the end of the flexible member is wound. One end of the reel shaft has a transverse hole and the body has a lug with a hole adjacent the transverse hole in the reel shaft. After an adjustment has been made, a pin is inserted through the holes in the lug and reel shaft to hold the flexible member in a secured position. A slot means is provided on the other end of the reel shaft for receiving a tool for operating the shaft to tighten the flexible member.
Abstract: An arrangement is described for providing a foundation on grade support for manufactured housing such as mobile homes which provides adequate support to resist overturning wind forces, as well as to prevent vertical or lateral shifting of the mobile home, due to earth movements resulting from mud or freeze-thaw induced shifting of the supporting soil. The foundation arrangement includes a plurality of telescoping stanchions which are adapted to be raised in order to be connected to the underframe and lowered to a final position.

Abstract: This invention is directed to and for use on mobile homes. The primary function of the structure is reduce and minimize roof rumble when the mobile home is exposed to natures turbulant forces. The structure consists of a pair of generally L shaped brackets, one bracket disposed at the intersection of each of the sidewalls with the roof. A connecting member is interposed between each of the L shaped brackets and fitted with means for maintaining said connecting member in substantial contact with the roof of the said mobile home, thus reducing and minimizing roof displacement which causes the rumble.
Abstract: An improved, spring-biased take-up clamp assembly for elongated tie-down elements such as cables, ropes or mobile home tie-down straps is provided which permits simplified, infinitely adjustable take-up and tightening of the tie-down element with secure locking at any desired position and without the use of conventional turnbuckles or other devices using interference-fit structure for spindle-retaining purposes. In preferred forms the assembly includes a rotatable take-up mandrel or spindle for a tie-down element, an apertured mounting plate fixed to the upper end of an embedded earth anchor, and a motion-checking snubber spring operatively coupled between the strap spindle and mounting plate for holding the strap against loosening under tension loads while at the same time permitting relatively easy, one-man tightening thereof as desired.
Abstract: An interconnection method and apparatus particularly useful for anchoring structures such as trailers in position, in which anchor plates having upstanding tongues with stepped clamps at their upper ends are secured to the ground beneath the structure. Anchor straps are secured to the structure in line with the tongues. A winch is releasably secured to any tongue below the clamp, and includes a drum with means securing an end of the anchor strap thereto after it passes through the clamp. By winching, clamping, releasing, and moving the winch to repeat the process, the desired securement of the structure is accomplished.
Abstract: A metal supporting pier for modular houses and mobil homes rests on a solid foundation having an upwardly projecting threaded bolt. The pier has a downwardly depending threaded rod that engages the bolt, preferably by use of a turnbuckle. This tie-down structure so tightly holds the piers to the foundation that there is no lateral shifting under seismic jolt, nor is there any vertical movement. The pier, accordingly, can be used to meet the most stringent building code requirements for housing supports.
Abstract: A device is provided for anchoring a trailer or mobile home. This comprises a belt formed of a plurality of woven nylon ropes preferably interlaced with wire and anchored at its ends to transverse metal bars. The belt extends over the trailer and down along the sides thereof. The bars are anchored by cables to anchor blocks imbedded in the ground.
Abstract: A reinforcing member for reinforcing the spaced flanges of a frame member utilizes a rigid member adapted to nest between the flanges which includes at least two strap-receiving openings adapted to have a tie-down strap passed around the frame member and into and around the reinforcing member. The reinforcing member prevents collapsing of the frame member when the tie-down strap is tightened.
