Abstract: A radiation-sensitive mixture, in particular photosensitive mixture, is disclosed that contains a compound which forms a strong acid on exposure to actinic radiation and a polymeric reaction product of (i) a polymeric organic compound containing free OH groups, (ii) an organic compound containing at least two isocyanate groups or at least two epoxy groups, and (iii) a compound containing repeating acid-cleavable acetal or ketal groups and at least one free OH group. The mixture yields printing plates or photoresists with a longer storage life.
Abstract: A method of applying an composite polyvinylchloride plastisol coating to a metal sheet and the composite polyvinylchloride coating thereof, which coating is characterized by having high hardness and excellent impression resistance, bleed resistance and formability, wherein the sheet is coated with a composite plastisol composition essentially consisting of a specific polyvinylchloride powder, an acrylic resin powder and an acrylic monomer and/or oligomer. Said method of applying the composite polyvinylchloride plastisol coating to a metal sheet, in certain instances, involving curing the coated sheet metal with ultraviolet rays after heating and embossing the coating. Also provided herewith is a polyvinylchloride plastisol used in such method.

Abstract: Disclosed are improved photopolymerizable compositions which can be developed using aqueous media. The improved compositions contain cellulosic ethers which impart an unexpected improvement in tent strength and optionally contain a plasticizer and a photochemically polymerizable carboxylic acid monomer or both which aid adhesion and stripping.

Abstract: Screen emulsions in accordance with the present invention include a poly vinyl alcohol and poly vinyl acetate or a poly vinyl acetate copolymer emulsified in water along with appropriate amounts of diacetone acrylamide and an acrylic monomer. The emulsions preferably also include a cyclic amide, phthalate plasticizers, an initiator of monomer polymerization and a thermal stabilizer. The emulsions are intended to be admixed with a photosensitive free radical-generating compound that initiates cross-linking of the polymeric components and then applied to a mesh or screen. The screen is overlaid with an obliterating material, exposed to light and then washed to remove non-exposed emulsion. The resulting screen can be used without further hardening with both water- and solvent-based inks, and the film can be removed with emulsion-removing chemicals to permit reuse of the screen.
Abstract: A solid photopolymerizable composition, contains addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer, initiating system, polymer binder and a microgel wherein preferably the binder and microgel form substantially a single phase and have a similar glass transition temperature above 25.degree. C. Although less preferred the solid composition can function without the binder. A preferred use is as a photoresist.
Abstract: An aqueous ink recording sheet is described which is prepared by coating on the surface of a substrate sheet a resin composition containing as the chief ingredient a mixture comprising (A) 10 to 90 wt % of photo polymerizable, double bonded anionic synthetic resin, and (B) 90 to 0 wt % of partially or completely saponified polyvinyl alcohol, or partially or completely saponified polymer resin composed of 20 to 100 wt % of vinyl acetate and 80 to 0 wt % of other polymerizable monomer or derivatives thereof, and/or (C) 90 to 0 wt % of homopolymer resin of N-vinylpyrrolidone or copolymer resin of other polymerizable monomer therewith, with the weight ratio of (A)/[(B)+(C)] being 90/10 to 10/90, drying the coated resin composition, and then curing the resin composition by the irradiation with actinic rays so as to form a resin coating layer on the substrate.
Abstract: Polymer compositions comprising a segmented urethane block polymer and an elastomer having a glass transition temperature between -40.degree. and +15.degree. C. possess a good combination of properties, including relatively high damping and modulus values. Radiation cross-linked tubing prepared from these compositions finds application in the jacketing of marine sonar detection arrays comprising hydrophones.
Abstract: A photosensitive resin composition comprising components A, B and C described below is provided. The composition of the present invention is quite effectively usable for the preparation of photosensitive resin printing plates having excellent water developability, image reproducibility and printability.
