Abstract: A fiber treatment composition containing a synthetic resin such as a silicon resin emulsion, a polyurethane resin emulsion and the like and a pulverized hydrophilic organic group natural material such as collagen. A fiber treated by using the treatment composition. A method of treating the fiber by stirring the fiber treatment composition in a ball mill or the like, soaking a fiber in the composition by the pad method, and drying the fiber under a temperature from 80 to 160 degrees.
Abstract: A dehydrating plastics material composition of high moisture-absorption capacity, comprising:A) 50% to 80% by weight of one or more compatible thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers;B) 20% to 50% by weight of one or more dehydration agents;C) 2% to 8% by weight of one or more elastomers; andD) 1% to 4% by weight of fibers of lengths lying in the range 0.5 mm to 4 mm, the fibers being selected from: synthetic fibers, vegetables fibers, and animal fibers.A method of preparing such a composition.A package or container whose inside surface is constituted by a plastics material of the above composition.
Abstract: A method is provided for preparing a cellulose ester plastic composition from waste paper (e.g. recycled paper) and/or sugar cane bagasse. The paper or bagasse is reacted with an acid anhydride in the presence of a catalyst to esterify some of the hydroxy groups on the cellulose. The resulting cellulose ester product is combined with various additives such as acetins, agricultural fillers, and carbon particles.
Abstract: A highly moisture-absorptive fiber obtained by mixing and kneading one or more kinds of animal protein fibers, general protein forming the animal skin, bones, and others, pulverized to very fine powder of the 0.05 to 15 .mu.m size with a polymer of synthetic fiber, semi-synthetic fiber or regenerated fiber or polymer of chemical fiber material consisting of a mixture of more than two kinds of these polymers and spinning the kneaded composition, which can give a fine fiber having flexibility and proper elongation.
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, compositions, and articles manufactured from scrap treated skin and/or leather which has been finely pulverized and mixed with synthetic resin. It further includes a method for the manufacture of improved leather products made from animal skin and/or leather and/or animal gelatin including the products derived therefrom and the method of producing skin and/or leather powder by use of steam and pulverization for combining with a fluid plastic material or resin in which the powder is uniformally dispersed in the plastic resin material for molding, extruding or manufacture of sheet material or for incorporation into coatings, paint or other plastic resinous products.

Abstract: An aqueous surface treatment composition for forming a hydrophilic coating comprising: (a) alkali metal silicate, (b) aminoalcohol, and (c) a water-soluble resin selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble nylon, a natural polysaccharide and a water-soluble, natural protein, and/or a water-soluble silane coupling agent. This aqueous surface treatment composition is used to form a hydrophilic coating on an aluminum surface having a corrosion-resistant coating layer. The hydrophilic coating prepared from this composition has good hydrophilic nature and corrosion resistance with substantially no unacceptable odor.
Abstract: A diaphragm for loudspeakers comprises chitin as a natural high polymeric material having a large value of Young's modulus and kraft pulp having large mechanical internal loss. Therefore, the deformation and the partial vibrations of the diaphragm during diaphragm operation do not come out due to the use of the chitin, because the flexural rigidity of the diaphragm is considerably large. Mechanical internal loss is also large owing to the use of the kraft pulp. As a result, it is possible to obtain a loudspeaker which has little fluctuation in frequency response, and which provides a superior sound pressure-frequency response, a superior distortion factor and a superior phase response.

Abstract: An aqueous silicone emulsion coating material has been developed with can be used to form a membrane with a decorative, uneven surface. The decorative surface is durable and waterproof. The coating material consists essentially of aqueous silicone emulsion which gives an elastomer upon removal of the water component, inorganic filler, and short, hydrophilic, organic fibers.
Abstract: The invention relates to new sound- and heat-insulating compositions, which comprise a finely dispersed leather powder of animal origin, a phenoplast resin or an aminoplast resin and optionally, together with the latter one, urea and/or a modified furane resin and optionally a wetting and/or foaming agent and an acid catalyst and optionally water. The compositions according to the invention have remarkable noise- and heat-insulating properties.

Abstract: Thermosettable prepolymers or resins are prepared by reacting a pyrazine containing at least two substituent groups which have a hydrogen atom attached to a carbon atom which is attached to the ring with a material containing at least two aromatic aldehyde groups. These prepolymers or resins are curable to thermoset products having good mechanical and thermal properties. Thermoset polymers having good mechanical and thermal properties are also prepared by homopolymerization in the presence of N,N'-bis-imides or copolymerization of these prepolymers with N,N'-bis-imides. The prepolymers are suitable for preparing composites.
Abstract: A water-in-oil emulsion polish composition suitable for treating natural and synthetic leather articles comprises a wax mixture, a film-forming agent, a film-modifying agent, a nonionic emulsifying agent, a dispersing agent, a thickening agent, a solvent, and a preservatives in water. The composition is substantially self-polishing and provides a durable natural-looking high gloss.
Abstract: Poly(arylene sulfide) compositions are pigmented with black carbonaceous pigments selected from at least one of finely divided bituminious coal, carbonized rice hulls, bone blacks, and micropulverized petroleum coke in an amount sufficient to provide the black pigmentation desired with little or no deleterious effect on the mechanical properties such as flexural and tensile strengths of the resin.
