Abstract: Elastomers with corrosion-inhibiting properties, characterized by containing a reaction product of an amine of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X represents a number from 5 to 30,R denotes hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, andR.sub.1 denotes C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.8 aralkyl, with an aromatic carboxylic acid and optionally a fatty acid.
Abstract: Aqueous solutions comprising 25 to 60 percent by weight of mixtures of(a) polymers of acrylic acid and/or copolymers of acrylic acid with maleic acid and(b) aminopolycarboxylic acids, aminopolyphosphonic acids and/or hydroxyalkanepolyphosphonic acids, such solutions having a pH value of about 3 to about 7 with the acid groups being present 20 to 80 percent in the form of the potassium salts and the remaining acid groups being present in form of the free acid, the amine salt, or mixtures thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to a combination of derivatives of dihydropyridine and .beta.-aminocrotonic acid derivatives intended for the stabilization of vinyl resins. The combination of a dihydropyridine derivative and a .beta.-aminocrotonic derivative gives rise to synergism of the stabilizing powers of each of those products.

Abstract: Disclosed is a spreadable solid adhesive composition comprising(A) from about 10 to about 30% by weight of a copolymer of(a) an acrylamide or substituted acrylamide and(b) an unsaturated mono or dicarboxylic acid having 2 to 6 carbon atoms or an alkali metal salt thereof, said copolymer having an I.V. of about 0.1-3.0,(B) from about 1 to about 10% by weight of a gelling agent selected from the group consisting of (1) dibenzal sorbitol, (2) alkali metal salts of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acids having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms, and (3) calcium or magnesium salts of saturated or unsaturated aliphatic acids having from 12 to 20 carbon atoms complexed with the tetrasodium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, and(C) from about 67 to about 89% by weight of water or a mixture of alcohol and water.

Abstract: Disclosed are colored polyester compositions containing copolymerized anthraquinone dyes as colorants, which compositions may be used, for example, for food packaging and to mold colored beverage bottles. The copolymerized dyes are thermally stable at the processing temperatures, and are colorfast and nonextractable. The useful dyes have the general formula: ##STR1## wherein either or both of rings A and B may contain in any position thereon one or two groups of the formula ##STR2## R and R.sup.3 each is hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower hydroxyalkyl; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each is hydrogen or 1-3 substituents such as lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, phenyl, Cl, Br, or the like; X is --S-- or --NH--; n is 1 or 2; m is 0, 1, or 2.
Abstract: Polymers of esters of methacrylic acid having an average chain length of about 6 to about 50 mers are prepared by an anionic polymerization reaction, carried out in the presence of a chain-regulating alcohol and a catalytic amount of an alkoxide anion, in which control of the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the polymer are achieved by regulating the ratio of the total quantity of alcohol employed to the total monomer charge. These polymers, their hydrolysis products, and their derivatives have a wide variety of applications, including use as components in films, coatings, fibers, impregnants, adhesives, printing inks, and binders, and use as modifiers, plasticizers, melt flow improvers, and leveling agents.
Abstract: Stabilized aqueous dispersions of vinyl chloride polymer having at least 25% by weight of vinyl chloride units in the polymer and having K values of between 20 and 80, having added as a stabilizing agent 0.3-6% by weight of substances selected from the group of compounds according to the general formula ##STR1## wherein n has the meaning of from 0 to 2 or water-soluble salts thereof. The invention also relates to a process of producing the stabilized products by adding the stabilizing agent after polymerization in aqueous dispersion, and to the use of the stabilized dispersions in binders, coating compositions, paints, adhesives, textile auxiliaries and paper-coating compositions.
