Abstract: In developing epoxy resin compositions used as an adhesive for structure (structural adhesive) required to have adhesive properties, if each component is increased to further enhance the adhesive properties such as shear bond strength and peel strength, this causes problems, for example, as follows. The viscosity becomes so high that the workability deteriorates. Hence, the added amount has to be limited. Moreover, the cured product becomes excessively flexible, so that the shear bond strength deteriorates. An epoxy resin composition contains the following components (A) to (E), where the component (A) does not include the component (C): the component (A): an epoxy resin; the component (B): a blocked urethane resin; the component (C): a rubber-modified epoxy resin; the component (D): rubber particles; and the component (E): a latent curing agent.

Abstract: Design of side chains yielding highly amphiphilic conjugated polymers is proven to be an effective and general method to access lyotropic liquid crystalline mesophases, allowing greater control over crystalline morphology and improving transistor performance. The general strategy enables variations in structure and interactions that impact alignment and use of liquid crystalline alignment methods. Specifically, solvent-polymer interactions are harnessed to facilitate the formation of high quality polymer crystals in solution. Crystallinity developed in solution is then transferred to the solid state, and thin films of donor-acceptor copolymers cast from lyotropic solutions exhibit improved crystalline order in both the alkyl and ?-stacking directions. Due to this improved crystallinity, transistors with active layers cast from lyotropic solutions exhibit a significant improvement in carrier mobility compared to those cast from isotropic solution.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing hierarchically ordered structures of inorganic phosphate particles, homogeneously deposited on the surface of a phyllosilicate, which is characterized in that it comprises the following steps: a) obtaining an acid solution of precursor compounds of an inorganic phosphate; b) preparing a dispersion of particles of a phyllosilicate in aqueous medium and acidifying the phyllosilicate dispersion by adding at least one acid, thereby obtaining an acid dispersion; c) mixing the acid solution obtained in step a) with the dispersion obtained in step b); and d), with stirring, adding a base to the mixture obtained in step c) until the required pH value for precipitating the corresponding inorganic phosphate on the phyllosilicate particles has been achieved, resulting in a hierarchically ordered structure of homogeneously distributed submicrometric or nanometric inorganic phosphate particles supported on the phyllosilicate surface.

  • Patent number: 8829096
Abstract: An upright column is packed with particles of a first material so the particles touch one another and a network of voids is defined between the particles. The network will be substantially continuous. A second material is then introduced into the column so the second material penetrates the network and fills the voids. The mixture of first and second materials is then consolidated using heat to melt the first or second material, while the other one of the first or second material remains in a solid state and acts as a space holder. Thereafter, the material which acts as the space holder may be removed thereby to leave a substantially continuous porous network defined by the material which was melted. It is found that, by use of the method, a substantially continuous network of the material which is melted can be formed and that the other material can readily be removed and/or is more easily removed compared to if a mixture of first and second materials was formed prior to packing in a column or mold.
