Abstract: One-component epoxy resin coating materials comprising(A) an epoxy resin or a mixture of epoxy resins,(B) as hardener for the epoxy resin at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihydrazide or a triazine compound of the formula I ##STR1## (R=alkylamino or dialkylamino having 1 or 2 carbon atoms in the alkyl moieties, phenylamino or hydrazino) and(C) an anti-sagging agent or an inorganic filler or a mixture of anti-sagging agent and an inorganic filler, are used for the coating of fixed resistors. The resultant coatings exhibit good heat, moisture and cracking resistance.
Abstract: Improved heat resistant reinforced composites, including laminates, are made by impregnating reinforcing fabrics and tapes, e.g., graphite, glass, polyaramide and boron, with thermoplastic polyimides from solution in mixtures of specified solvents formulated to retard rapid evaporation and to insure high resin loading, good fiber wetting and the absence of distortion.
Abstract: A granular flame retardant additive is provided comprising from 70 to 99.5% by weight of an organohalide flame retardant and from 0.5 to 30% by weight of thermoplastic synthetic resin as a binder. The additive is easy to handle and resistant to disintegration during transportation and mixing with fabricating resin pellets. Uniform distribution thereof in fabricated thermoplastic articles is achieved by simply co-feeding the granules and the fabricating resin to a fabricating machine.
Abstract: Polyolefins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and the like are rendered flame retardant by incorporating therein about 2-60 percent of a combination of (1) a Diels-Alder adduct of a chlorinated cyclopentadiene and a polyunsaturated cycloaliphatic compound and (2) a brominated aromatic compound.
Abstract: A coating composition is described which is suitable for use on road surfaces, floors, driveways, and similar surfaces and comprises chlorinated rubber, a plasticizer component and an organic solvent. The composition also advantgeously may contain powdered, amorphous silica. Preferred in the present invention is about equal amounts by weight of chlorinated rubber and a mixture of solid and liquid chlorinated paraffins as plasticizers, a minor amount of powdered amorphous silica and a mixture of aromatic and chlorinated aliphatic organic solvents.
Abstract: Thin films of about 1 to 5 mil thick of poly(parabanic acid) (PPA-M form) containing halogenated flame retardants have the flame retardancy enhanced by the addition of small amounts (generally about 0.1 to 3.0 weight percent) of a copper chelate compound.
Abstract: An anti-corrosion coating for metals comprising a mixture of aluminum paste or zinc paste, microcrystalline wax, aromatic hydrocarbon resin, chlorinated rubber, neutral barium sulfonate, chlorinated solvent, aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, and mineral spirits.
Abstract: Trityl compounds wherein a triphenylmethyl group is attached to oxygen, divalent sulfur, trivalent nitrogen or a halogen are effective synergists for organic bromine flame retardants in polypropylene compositions.
Abstract: A liquid flame retardant composition consisting essentially of:A. A polybrominated diphenyloxide containing about 4 to 9 nuclearly substituted bromine atoms and;B. A C.sub.10-24 aliphatic hydrocarbon polybrominated and polychlorinated to contain about 10 to 50 weight percent of bromine and about 5 to 60 weight percent of chlorine; the weight ratio of A to B ranging from about 5:1 to 1:5, optionally combined with a flame-retardant synergist such as antimony oxide.
