  • Patent number: 6984688
Abstract: A plasticized HSBC blended with polypropylene and free of a filler material which adversely affects clarity, provides an injection-moldable composition for an article required to have specific properties, namely, tensile strength in the range from about 4.13 to 8.96 MPa (600 to 1300 psi); tear strength in the range from about 21 to 52.6 N/mm (120 to 300 lbs/in); softness in the range from about 45 but less than 65 Shore A; and haze less than 20%, measured by ASTM D1003 using a BYK Gardner Micro Tri-gloss 4525 meter; and it is essential that all of these properties, along with the physical dimensions of the molded article, remain substantially unchanged after immersion of the article in boiling water for 1 hour. Such a composition is may be injection molded to form a nipple for feeding an infant, or a teething ring, or goggles for a diver, and the articles are sterilizable and recyclable.

  • Patent number: 6863723
Abstract: A wall repair compound useful for filling and repairing cracks, holes, and other imperfections in a wall surface includes a conventional filler material, a conventional binder material, and a dust reducing additive which reduces the quantity of airborne dust particles generated when sanding the hardened joint compound. Airborne dust reducing additives include oils, surfactants, solvents, waxes, and other petroleum derivatives. The additive can be added to conventional ready-mixed joint compounds and to setting type joint compounds. A method of reducing the quantity of airborne dust generated when sanding a fully hardened joint compound includes mixing a sufficient quantity of the dust reducing additive with the joint compound prior to when the joint compound has been applied to the wall.

  • Patent number: 6831125
Abstract: The invention is directed to resin coating, adhesive, and cement compositions comprising styrenic copolymers and a terpene solvent. The compositions are particulary useful for toy article applications because of the use of safe, naturally occuring terpene solvents. These compositions form high adhesion bonding with molded elastomeric styrene copolymer surface substrates. The invention is also directed to a method of applying the instant coatings to substrate surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6822043
Abstract: Sulfur vulcanizable rubber composition which does not contain aromatic process oils including at least one diene elastomer, at least finely dispersed, precipitated silica and carbon as fillers, softeners, at least one silane coupling agent, and additional common additives as well as a process for their production. Additionally, the invention relates to rubber products and tires made based on such rubber compositions. The rubber composition can comprise 5 to 60 phr of at least one mineral oil softener as a softener, with a content of polycyclic aromatic compositions of less than 3 wt-% in relation to the total weight of the mineral oil softener, determined by the DMSO extract according to the IP 346 method, and a glass transition temperature below −45° C., and 1 to 20 phr of at least one glyceride and/or of a factice, and the weight ratio of finely dispersed, precipitated silica to carbon black being 1:2 to 20:1 in the rubber composition.
