Abstract: A low viscosity, stable graft polymer dispersion is prepared by polymerizing in the presence of a free radical initiator, from about 25 to about 70 weight percent based on the total weight of the dispersion, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or mixture of monomers, in a polyol mixture comprising (1) from about 25 to about 99 weight percent of a polyol containing from 2 to 8 hydroxyl groups and having an equivalent weight from 30 to about 200, (2) from about 1 to about 75 weight percent of a macromer containing induced unsaturation, said macromer comprising the reaction product of a polyether polyol having an equivalent weight from 100 to 10,000 with a compound having both ethylenic unsaturation and a group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl, carboxyl, anhydride, isocyanate and epoxy or mixtures thereof. These graft polymer dispersions are useful for preparing polyurethane products.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sealing compound for cans, which is applied to the periphery of a can end member to seal the double-seamed portion between the can end member and a can body, said sealing compound comprising as a base component an aqueous latex of a styrene-butadiene rubber containing as a particle size-adjusting agent an alkali metal carbonate or an alkali metal salt of a phosphorus oxyacid in an amount of 0.3 to 2.0 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of solids of the styrene-butadiene rubber.
Abstract: Impression materials based on cross-linked aziridino-polyester compounds which tend to adhere to the surface to be reproduced, are made nonadhesive by the addition of 1-15% by weight of oleic acid ethanolamide with respect to the aziridino-polyether component, and may thereafter be more easily and smoothly released from the object to be reproduced.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of avoiding a too rapid curing reaction in production processes where a prepolymer is cured, giving an extension of the so-called pot life. By adding a small amount of a compound, whose structural formula comprises the metal-binding part ##STR1## to form complexes with transition metals catalyzing the curing reaction, an extension of the pot life is achieved without any negative influence on the qualities of the produced product. Preferably a tetracycline compound is added.
Abstract: The invention provides a novel means for solving the serious problem in conventional silicone sealant compositions that the surface of the cured sealant composition, when used for sealing or caulking of a joint in building structures of, in particular, stony components, is susceptible to stain from environmental atmosphere eventually spreading over the adjacent surfaces. The invention proposes admixing a limited amount of a specific fluorine-containing surface active agent with the silicone sealant composition before it is applied for sealing or caulking.
Abstract: Paintable, cured polyorganosiloxane sealants are prepared at room temperature from room temperature curable compositions containing a hydroxyl-terminated polyorganosiloxane, an organosilicon compound containing at least two amido groups, aminoxy groups or combinations thereof, per molecule and a substituted alcohol where the substituent is acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, cyano, ##STR1## mercapto, or the combination of a carbon-to-carbon triple bond and an ether-type oxygen atom, where each Y and Z are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydrocarbyl and halohydrocarbyl.
Abstract: An emulsion polymerized vinylidene chloride copolymer latex having polymerized therein vinylidene chloride and one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers copolymerizable therewith. The latex contains both an anionic and a nonionic surfactant. The latex remains stable following addition of about 2 percent by weight of a cationic antistatic agent on a polymer solids basis.
Abstract: Compositions comprising a thermoplastic elastomer, e.g., radial block butadiene/styrene copolymer, solid resinous polymer, e.g., vinyl-substituted aromatics, and one or more specific polar compounds. The specific polar compounds are chosen from among simple and polymeric alkaline glycols, their mono and dialkyl ethers; ethanolamines, isopropanolamines, and their hydrocarbylsubstituted derivatives; liquid acrylonitrile/butadiene polymers; acrylonitrile/butadiene blends with homopolymers of polyvinyl chloride and styrene/acrylonitrile copolymers; and mixtures thereof. A method using these compositions for producing molded objects at a molding pressure of up to about 200 psig. Molded objects produced from these compositions and molded objects produced by this method of molding.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing a saturated polyester resin containing ##STR1## groups and having good stability against generation of acetaldehyde at elevated temperatures, which comprises having an alkali metal salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid present in the melt polymerization reaction mixture during formation of such polyester, in an amount up to 0.5 mol percent based on the saturated di- and polycarboxylic acid moieties entering into the polymerization reaction, and products.
Abstract: Process for producing a cationic polychloroprene latex by homo- or copolymerizing chloroprene in an aqueous emulsion in the presence of ammonium salts of inorganic or organic acids as emulsifiers wherein the polymerization is carried out in presence of an alkaline earth and/or alkali salt of an organic carboxylic acid or in presence of a mixture of Na.sub.2 HPO.sub.4 and KH.sub.2 PO.sub.4. The latex thus obtained may be mixed with a bitumen emulsion and can be used for the protection of building or in road construction.
