Patent number: 7176260Abstract: The invention is the manipulation of the zinc oxide content and sulfur content of nitrile butadiene rubbers and selected vulcanization conditions that can be achieved economically with common production facilities. The manipulation of these components affects the relaxation property of gloves formed by this material. Produced are gloves that have a relaxation property, higher than 50%, and a low modulus (approximately 3 Mpa). The glove maintains decent ultimate tensile strength (>20 Mpa) and elongation (>500%). The glove is produced by a vulcanization process, which lasts from 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300° F. to 400° F. The tensile strength and elongation are well above the ASTM requirements for medical gloves. The current ASTM requirements are ASTM D412-92. Thanks to sufficient vulcanization, the films produced provide satisfactory protection from viral penetration. The tearing strength is also better because of the lower modulus.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Microflex CorporationInventor: Jian Tao

By producing a molding matrix with this type of composition, unsatisfactory curing of an unsaturated polyester resin is unlikely to occur at the contact surface with the silicone rubber of the matrix, and furthermore the mold releasability of the matrix relative to unsaturated polyester resins is excellent. As a result, the matrix can be used repeatedly for a significant number of molding operations.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2003Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masayuki Ikeno, Morio Ohashi

Publication number: 20030232906Abstract: High pH aqueous coating compositions containing 3-isothiazolone microbicide that have been stabilized against the degradation of the 3-isothiazolone by the addition of low levels of copper ion are disclosed. In particular, aqueous paint compositions containing pH-adjusting amine compounds, where the pH is above 9.5, are effectively stabilized when 1 to 200 ppm of copper ion is added to the paint composition before the 3-isothiazolone is combined with other paint components or if copper ion is added together with the 3-isothiazolone to the remaining paint components or if the 3-isothiazolone is added no more than 1 hour before copper ion is added to the composition.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2003Publication date: December 18, 2003Inventor: Tirthankar Ghosh

Publication number: 20030216493Abstract: Halogen-containing polymer compositions comprising a latent mercaptan-containing heat stabilizer composition substantially free from the offensive odor typically associated with mercaptans are protected during processing by the degradation products of the latent (i.e., blocked) mercaptan which include a free mercaptan. Other products of the degradation are believed to include carbocations of the blocking moiety which are stabilized by a molecular structure in which the electron deficiency is shared by several groups. The latent mercaptan may be the sole heat stabilizer additive but the free mercaptan released during processing may also synergize the activity of metal-based heat stabilizers such as metal salts and organometallic stabilizers such as organotin carboxylates and mercaptides in the polymer composition. The odor of primary mercaptan-containing heat stabilizers in halogenated polymer compositions is masked by a small amount of a latent mercaptan.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2003Publication date: November 20, 2003Inventors: Tod C. Publication number: 20020136912Abstract: Optical brighteners are widely used for decreasing the apparent yellowness of polymeric materials. Polyethylene, as a coating film for photographic paper has presented unique problems because of its general lack of compatibility with conventional, large, fluorescent brightener molecules. The present invention provides a solution to this problem by incorporating into the polyethylene an optical brightener compatibilizing amount of a second polyolefin having alkyl groups pendant from the polymer backbone which serves to reduce the exudation of the optical brightener in articles or substrates comprised of or coated with such compositions.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 1999Publication date: September 26, 2002Inventor: GETHER IRICK
