Patent number: 4774265Abstract: Magnetic polymer particles prepared by treating compact or porous polymer particles with a solution of iron salts and, if desired, salts of other metals which are capable of forming magnetic ferrites, in which the solution swells or penetrates into the particles. Patent number: 4704437Abstract: Process for the preparation of soluble synthetic resins which are free from monomeric amines and have NH bonds by reaction of (A) compounds which carry epoxide groups with (B) polyamines, in which the reaction is carried out in a homogeneous phase system in the absence or presence of resin solvents, the polyamine (B) being employed in excess and the resulting reaction product being freed from the unreacted polyamine portions by circulatory distillation in the presence of a resin solvent with the addition of water and supply of heat. The synthetic resins thus prepared are employed as self-crosslinking binders and in combination with crosslinking agents or in modified form for coatings or impregnations.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1986Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Hoechst AGInventor: Hans-Joachim Kiessling

Patent number: 4570690Abstract: Filled rubber vulcanizates containing aromatic furazan oxides exhibit many improved properties such as increased filler-rubber interaction and decreased hysteresis. Useful furazan oxides have both carbons of the furazan ring as part of a fused aromatic ring. Typical examples are benzofurazan oxide and its methyl and methoxy analogs. Tires made from the inventive vulcanizates show lower running temperatures and improved rolling resistance. The desirable effects of the aromatic furazan oxides may be improved by mixing the rubber, filler and furazan oxide in a conventional mechanical compounding device at specific temperatures and time periods such as about 200.degree.-400.degree. F. for 2-20 minutes.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1984Date of Patent: February 18, 1986Assignee: The Firestone Tire & Rubber CompanyInventor: Daniel F. Graves
