  • Patent number: 5180781
Abstract: The process for the production of an alloy of cross-linked or partially cross-linked rubbers and aromatic polyesters basically consists of reacting a mixture of a rubber latex and an aqueous solution of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal diphenolate with a solution of a dicarboxylic acid halide and/or a carbonyl halide in a water-immiscible solvent. An aromatic polyester forms at the water/organic solvent phase boundary and goes over into the organic phase. At the same time, the rubber migrates from the aqueous into the organic phase. When the organic phase is separated and the organic solvent removed, the alloy of rubber and oirganic polyester remaining behind is suitable for the production of moulded articles of all kinds.

  • Patent number: 4952648
Abstract: Disclosed herein are novel multivalent metal-modified salicyclic acid resins useful as color-developing agents for pressure-sensitive copying paper. They can each be produced by causing a salicyclic acid ester and a styrene derivative to undergo a Friedel-Crafts reaction in the presence of a strong acid catalyst, hydrolyzing the resulting salicylic acid ester resin, and then reacting the thus-obtained salicyclic acid resin with a multivalent metal salt.

  • Patent number: 4946936
Abstract: By means of radicalic starters, fluoroolefins are polymerized in the presence of perfluoropolyethers containing, at one or at both ends, a bromine atom, in such amounts that the weight ratio between the perfluoropolyethers and the fluorinated olefins in the resulting product ranges from 4/1 to 1/50. The bromine-containing perfluoropolyethers utilized in the process have a molecular weight from 400 to 10,000, and preferably from 600 to 8,000. The resulting polymeric products comprise sequences of perfluoroolefinic units and perfluoropolyether blocks.

  • Patent number: 4940777
Abstract: Novel linear alternating copolymers of carbon monoxide and a 1,2-alkadiene are produced by contacting the carbon monoxide and alkadiene under polymerization conditions in the presence of a catalyst composition formed from a palladium compound, the anion of a non-hydrohalogenic acid having a pKa less than 4 and a bidentate ligand of nitrogen. The novel copolymers are formed in a mixture with linear alternating copolymer of carbon monoxide and ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon when an ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon is additionally present in the polymerization mixture.

  • Patent number: H1110
Abstract: Novel thermosetting resin compositions comprise (1) a polyalcohol produced by reduction of a low molecular weight linear alternating polymer of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon and (2) a polyfunctional curing agent. The compositions are cured upon application of heat to cured, crosslinked compositions useful as coatings.
