Abstract: A polymeric blend containing (a) copolymer of lactone with conjugated diene or monovinylarene or both conjugated diene and monovinylarene, (b) acrylic ester polymer, and (c) coumarone-indene resin. A polymeric blend as described above also containing (d) conjugated diene monovinylarene teleblock copolymer.
Abstract: A thermoplastic molding composition which comprises a homogeneous mixture of two thermoplastic copolymers is disclosed. In one of its more specific aspects, this invention pertains to a homogeneous mixture of a copolymer of a monovinyl aromatic monomer and an alpha, beta-unsaturated cyclic anhydride and a phosphorus-containing alternating copolymer.
Abstract: Copolymers having a backbone of alternating polymer blocks and phosphorus units and their method of production are disclosed. These alternating copolymers exhibit excellent fire retardancy.
Abstract: Thermoplastic compositions comprising, in intimate admixture, polyethylene terephthalate and a rubber-modified graft copolymer of a vinyl aromatic compound and an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated cyclic anhydride. These compositions display desirable thermal properties, particularly elevated heat deflection temperatures.
Abstract: The stability to phase separate solutions of unsaturated polyesters, vinyl ester resins or mixtures thereof and an elastomeric additive is improved by the use of a compatibilizing agent which is the ester of a carboxyl terminated diene polymer and a polyoxyalkylene.
Abstract: A thermosettable composition comprising (1) an unsaturated polyester, (2) a block copolymer of a lactone, a conjugated diene and, optionally, a monovinylarene, and (3) a vinyl monomer is provided which shows improved compatibility and stability over a composition in which the block copolymer does not contain a polylactone block.

Abstract: An advantageous blend suitable for the molding of plastic articles is prepared by mechanically mixing a polyphenylene ether resin and a resin prepared by conducting the polymerization of a mixture of a rubber, maleimide, and styrene.
Abstract: Block and graft lactone copolymers are prepared by reacting a base polymer containing hydroxyl groups with an organometallic catalyst of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 ', R.sub.2 ', R.sub.3 ', and R.sub.4 ' are alkoxy groups (alcoholate groups), M' is a trivalent metal and M is a divalent metal, whereby the catalyst becomes bonded to the base polymer by way of the hydroxyl groups. Then the remaining alkoxy groups are converted to acyl groups and thereafter the organometalic end-groups are reacted with a lactone to form the lactone polymer moiety. The resulting block and graft copolymers are particularly useful when blended with other polymers, as for example polyvinyl chloride.

Abstract: Blends of polyphenylene oxide or styrene resin-modified polyphenylene oxide, lactone block copolymers and, optionally, polar resins exhibiting improved impact strength as compared with polyphenylene oxide resin with no additive.
Abstract: Binary compositions are disclosed which comprise a mixture of a high molecular weight thermoplastic, aromatic polycarbonate and a styrene/butadiene/caprolactone block copolymer.
Abstract: Ternary compositions are disclosed which comprise a mixture of a high molecular weight thermoplastic, aromatic polycarbonate, a styrene/butadiene/caprolactone block copolymer, and either an acrylate copolymer or an olefin-acrylate copolymer.
Abstract: A lubricant for use in the processing of plastics is disclosed. The lubricant comprises a polyalkylene oxide made from a monomer selected from the group consisting of aliphatic, non-substituted, 1,2-alkylene oxides containing from about six to about 40 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof, said polyalkylene oxide having an average molecular weight from about 1,000 to about 6,000. Also disclosed is a process for using such lubricants in the shaping of thermoplastic polymers.

Abstract: A mixture of isomeric methyl ethenyl benzenes having a particular distribution of isomers is useful for preparing polymers with advantageous properties. The isomeric mixture may be polymerized with other monomers to produce copolymers.
