    Abstract: A gum stick wrapping machine with gum stick wrapper storage and feed means advancing wrapper blanks in strip form, a wrapper mechanism assembles conveyor advanced gum sticks and wrappers with the latter enveloping the former. Band storage and feed means advance bands in strip form and a wrapper mechanism folds the same about the sticks of gum. A stacker provides stacks of wrapped and banded sticks and a package wrapper mechanism folds the wrappers about the stacks. The package wrappers are also stored in end-to-end elongated strip form. Band feed rolls and package wrapper feed rolls are driven by associated discrete servo motors in slave-master relationship with a main servo motor. Computer control means regulates motor speed ratios and provides for correction of errors in band or package wrapper length and/or band or package wrapper registration.

    Abstract: The making of cigarette packs is started by transferring arrays of cigarettes into successive pockets of a transporting unit while the pockets are at a standstill, and by inserting blanks into discrete pouches which are adjacent the front sides of the pockets. The pouches and the pockets are then accelerated, and the blanks are partially folded to overlie the arrays of cigarettes in the adjacent pockets prior to joint transfer of arrays and blanks into the receptacles of a continuously driven endless chain conveyor. The arms are then decelerated whereby the chain conveyor extracts the trailing portions of the blanks from their pouches and the blanks are converted stepwise into inner envelopes. The making of second envelopes around the inner envelopes can begin prior to or after completion of inner envelopes.

    Abstract: A round bale wrapper for packing feed, like green forage and straw, intended for ensilage of the feed and conservation of the straw. For continuous automatic packing of round bales the round bale wrapper comprises means for clamping and cutting sheet which is located between the round bale, and the sheet dispensing means. At a predetermined point of time or tilting angle during the tilting movement of round bale table clamping and cutting means operate sequentially. Upon cutting of the sheet the latter is still firmly held in the clamping means, and the sheet is held during at least one revolution of the round bale table as a first step of packing the next round bale.

A dual stage wrapping system is used in such a manner that each orbiting dispenser is restrained to dispense the film web at a constant supply speed less than the lowest film demand speed at the applicator mandrel and independent of the tension on the film web between the film web dispenser and the applicator mandrel.

The end platens and bottom wall are adapted to receive bagging material thereover, which is held secure during formation of the bale, after which the baling chamber may be opened by opening the side and top walls, and the bagging material wrapped substantially totally around the six bale sides while the bale is held under compression, and after which appropriate strapping may be applied around the wrapped bale, likewise while the bale is under compression.

    Abstract: Large mill reels of paper are protectively wrapped for shipment by a method which first caps the reel end-faces with a header disk having a diameter greater than the reel diameter. The flange of excess disk material is pleated and pressed into a band of adhesive applied about the reel circumference near the respective end-face. Subsequently, a second band of adhesive is applied to the two pleated and pressed flanges around the reel circumference and a circumferential surface wrap of width substantially equal to the axial length of the subject reel is applied thereabout.

    Abstract: The invention is concerned with a process of making a package of pressurized fluid, said package having an inner container of plastics and a shell of non-extensible material. A tube of flexible plastics is filled with a gas-containing fluid (e.g., beer), and sealed along two parallel sealing zones, spaced from each other by a distance less than the length of the seals, and cut along the seals thereby forming a filled container. This latter is immediately enclosed in a stiff outer shell or sleeve, open at its ends, the filled container's seams being wholly within the shell so that the portions of the container accessible at the ends of the shell are seamless.

    Abstract: A single gum stick wrapping machine has a rotary transfer mechanism for successively conveying single sticks of gum from breaker wheels to a folding wheel where each stick picks up a wrapper and is conveyed through folding and creasing sections where the wrapper is partially folded around the stick and the ends of the wrapper are folded, creased and tucked. The wrapping operation is completed while the partially wrapped stick is conveyed from the folding wheel to a stacker at the discharge end of the machine by another rotary transfer mechanism. Rotary label wrapping mechanism may be provided for applying a label or outer wrapper to each stick.

    Abstract: A plurality of yarn packages are stably held by a pair of protector plates in parallel and non contacting condition to each other so as to form a unit package. In a preferable process for making the unit package, a series of successive operations, such as a first protector plate supply, a first film supply, mounting of a predetermined number of yarn packages on the first protector plate by way of the first film, a second film supply on the combined body of the yarn packages with the first protector plate, sealing of the first and second films for wrapping the yarn packages, a second protector plate supply, binding of the first and second protector plates by tapes, packaging at least one unit package in a cardboard box, are successively and intermittently carried out when items are displaced along an assembling conveyer line.
