Patent number: 8266739Abstract: A remote-controlled vehicle for collecting and transporting bio-waste that is capable of compacting bio-waste, dumping the waste in a variety of ways, and that has a rechargeable battery, among other functions, is disclosed. A system for collecting the bio-waste material also is provided. The system includes a plurality of collection receptacles associated with a structure, each of the plurality of collection receptacles receiving the bio-waste material without the use of water as a carrier. A transport network extends from each of the plurality of collection receptacles to at least one storage receptacle located at the structure. A plurality of vehicles, or carts, is disposed within the transport network and collect the bio-waste material.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Inventor: Vincent Paul Schaaf

Patent number: 6998094Abstract: Apparatus for handling biological sample containers comprises a conveyor assembly for conveying containers and a lid handling assembly operable to remove lids from and replace lids onto containers while the containers are in motion on the conveyor assembly. The lid handling assembly comprises a pair of ramps onto which a lid is lifted by a lifting mechanism configured to handle overhanging lids or non-overhanging lids as required. The lid handling assembly may be configured to handle lids of containers of various sizes by altering the ramp spacing. A conveyor assembly comprises a pair of converging rails which carry a pair of jaws operable to carry a container. The convergence of the rails makes the jaws clamp the container so that it is held tightly in position for micro-arraying to be carried out. The conveyor assembly may be adapted to handle different sizes of container by the provision of holders to hold various container types.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2002Date of Patent: February 14, 2006Assignee: Genetix LimitedInventors: James Keith Haslam, Paul Noble, Keith Melvin Ebel

Publication number: 20040200188Abstract: A device for aseptically filling sterile containers provided with a mouth closed by a frangible membrane, comprising actuators (K) carrying a fill group provided at its distal end with cutting means (T) and valve means and at its proximal end with means (Y) for driving the valve means. The valve means consist of a fill tube (R) closed by a conical bottom (U), externally provided with an elastomeric plug (P), and having one or more lateral slots (A) at the bottom (U), the fill tube (R) being slidably arranged within an external guide tube (E) suitable to abut on the container mouth, upon cutting of the membrane, and with which the plug (P) achieves a seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2003Publication date: October 14, 2004Inventor: Dave Hoeppner

Patent number: 5784854Abstract: A perforating and plugging device for a dye-dispensing machine comprising at least one output nozzle and a support structure for a container, comprises a perforating member for forming a hole in the container substantially in vertical alignment with the nozzle of the dispensing machine. A plugging member which can house a plug is movable selectively from a rest position to an operative position in order to fit the plug in the hole formed in the container. The perforating member is mounted on a slide element movable horizontally and interacting with articulation means which can move the plugging member, rotating it substantially through an angle of 90.degree. from the rest position to the operative position.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1996Date of Patent: July 28, 1998Assignee: Corob S.p.A.Inventor: Leopoldo Mazzalveri

Patent number: 4938000Abstract: A crimper head for use in introducing a fluid product under pressure into the mouth of a container provided with a closure and thereafter crimping the closure to the container mouth. A container, such as for an aerosol package, with a closure resting freely in the mouth of the container is delivered to the crimper head. The head has a lower bell which forms a seal with the upper end of the container when the head is lowered. While the bell remains stationary, other parts of the head are actuated so that vacuum is applied to the bell and the container while the closure is lifted by vacuum from the mouth. Thereafter, the head is actuated to shut off the vacuum and admit a metered quantity of fluid under pressure, such as aerosol propellant, into the bell and container. When the pressurized fluid is admitted it lifts the closure from the container mouth and also acts to lift as a unit all parts of the head except the bell which remains stationary and engaged with the container.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1989Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: The Kartridg Pak Co.Inventors: Rodney P. Smith, Donald E. Cohrs
