  • Patent number: 7565784
Abstract: An automated method for dispensing pharmaceuticals particularly tablets and capsules, and other small discrete objects, includes: receiving prescription information, selecting a container, labeling the container, dispensing the tablets or capsules into the labeled container, applying a closure to the filled, labeled container, and offloading the container to a designated location. Preferably, the tablets are dispensed with high speed dispensing bins that employ forced air to agitate and singulate the tablets. The other functions within the system are typically carried out at stations designed to offer speed, flexibility and precision to the dispensing operation.

  • Patent number: 6374576
Abstract: The invention falls within the sector of bottling plants. In a method for capping containers (2) with crown caps, the step of centering the cap is performed without the container (2), the cap being completely free to arrange itself in position on a movable magnetic element (4). The capping machine has capping means (7, 11) which are eccentric with respect to the capping axis (20) and positioned at a higher level than the zone for capping the container (2).

  • Patent number: 6205744
Abstract: An embossed seal is formed in a cavity in the neck of a corked bottle over a cork using a die having a die surface with a die image. A first molten seal material is introduced into a die cavity. The die cavity is formed in part with the die surface. The introduction of the first molten seal material deposits an embossed seal portion with an embossed surface. The embossed seal portion is allowed to cool. A second molten seal material is introduced into the cavity of the neck of the corked bottle. The embossed seal portion is brought into contact with the molten seal material in the bottle cavity with the embossed surface disposed on top facing away from the molten seal material. The molten seal material partially melts the embossed seal portion to form a single seal upon cooling. The embossed seal portion is sufficiently cooled and solidified to prevent melting and damage of the embossed surface.

  • Patent number: 5040354
Abstract: A rotary-type capping machine is provided for capping bottles with closure caps. A plurality of capping elements are provided that rotate about a vertical machine axis and can be raised and lowered in the vertical direction. To clean the capping elements, rinsing caps can be secured thereon, each of which, when secured on a capping element, closes off toward the outside a rinsing chamber in which are disposed at least those surfaces of the capping element for which cleanliness is particularly critical. To avoid a connection and loosening of hoses or conduits during cleaning, each capping element is provided above a rinsing cap connection area with fixed connections for the supply and withdrawal of a cleaning or rinsing agent. If the capping machine has a cap transfer mechanism with a rotating transfer element, to clean the same a tray-like element for a cleaning agent is provided in which the transfer element can be immersed by lowering the cap transfer mechasnism and/or by raising the tray-like element.

  • Patent number: 4835940
Abstract: An apparatus for closing bottles by means of closure caps, such as, crown caps or the like, including a closing machine, a closing member rotating together with a bell-type centering or guard member along the periphery of the closing machine. A spring-biased pressure die is mounted in the closing member so as to be movable in axial direction. A cap transfer station is arranged at one point of the cycle of rotation of the closing machine. The position of the centering member with a cap support member is adjustable relative to the pressure die during the movement. The centering member and cap support member, when in the cap transfer position, are fixedly supported on the closing member by means of the pressure die and/or by means of control members of the centering member.

  • Patent number: 4222214
Abstract: Chucking apparatus is disclosed for engaging articles such as screw-type caps for applying the caps to containers. Caps are bottom or center fed to a fluid operated chuck device which grips the caps and screws them onto a container. The chuck device comprises a plurality of jaw members pivotable to a cap gripping position. An annularly shaped, resilient member surrounds the jaw members. As fluid under pressure is introduced into a chamber in fluid communication with the resilient member, the member is compressed causing the jaw members to pivot to the cap gripping position. The chuck device, which is connected to a constantly operating motor through a torque clutch, screws the cap onto a threaded portion of the container. The torque clutch is set such that when the cap is properly tightened on the container, the resistance to further tightening causes the clutch to disengage.
