  • Publication number: 20150135642
Abstract: A glue application unit applies glue to glue application region of an envelope form to form main adhesive part with a required thickness that allows firm adhesion between glue application region and counter region after the sheet adhesion process, and a temporary adhesive part with a thickness thinner than the main adhesive part for temporarily adhering the glue application region and the counter region within a short period of time. A predetermined pressure is applied to the glue application region and the counter region which are in contact with each other on the envelope form having a content enclosed so that those regions are adhered by the sheet bonding unit.

  • Patent number: 7308784
Abstract: Apparatus for packaging articles in clear clamshell packages includes a pair of parallel relatively narrow, laterally spaced apart conveyor belts that support there-between a package in open position by its opposing side peripheries. A stack of packages is supported in nested configuration adjacent the front end of the conveyor and de-nester mechanism withdraws packages there-from and places them on the conveyor. As the package is advanced a robotic arm picks and places articles of commerce and associated product information card in the package cavity. A rotating roller coated with UV-responsive adhesive coats raised male surfaces of the advancing package. Next an air knife sends a jet of air upwardly to cause the open package lid to rotate upwardly to cover the article-receiving portion. A driven roller presses the lid downwardly to fully close it and cause the adhesive coated surfaces to fully engage the corresponding grooves on the article-receiving portion.

  • Patent number: 7140164
Abstract: A novel and improved method of applying adhesive to one side of a running web of wrapping material for a rod-like filler of filter material for tobacco smoke includes directing toward the one side of the web a stream of adhesive which issues from an open-and-shut orifice of a nozzle, and employing one or more jets of compressed air to vary the direction of flow of the stream so that the adhesive coats one marginal portion as well as the adjacent portion of the major central part of the one side and forms at least one non-linear layer. Once the thus treated web is draped around the filler, the adhesive bonds the two marginal portions of the converted web to each other and simultaneously bonds the central part of the web to the filler.
