Closing Preformed Container Deformed By Contents Patents (Class 53/480)
  • Patent number: 4510733
Abstract: Slaughtered poultry, which has already been headwise introduced into a plastic bag member, is placed in a holder with a mouth of the plastic bag member being oriented upwardly. Two upper pivotal jaws are moved together to form a narrow cylinder about an upper end of the poultry, an overlying tubular member is forced down into a narrow cylinder for pressing the leg ends of the poultry downwardly, with the piston having a bottom closure which is active as a piston end but openable to enable a free bag mouth portion to be drawn into the tubular piston when vacuum is applied to the upper ends thereof. When the bottom closure is thereafter closed, the drawn up bag mouth portion will be clamped to the piston and the piston is rotated for twisting the bag mouth portion. Thereafter, the bag holder is moved past a tape applicator device for fixing of the twist bag mouth portion, with the bag portion outside of the tape being cut off and drawn away through the piston.

  • Patent number: 4378625
Abstract: An improved beverage container holder manufactured by a process including the steps of providing a cylindrical outer cup of foam material and press fitting a cylindrical inner cup within the outer cup after filling the annulus formed therebetween with a refreezable fluid. The cylindrical inner cup includes a radially extending flanged region at the open end which comprises an inwardly and downwardly tapered rib circumferentially disposed about the cup for engaging and becoming embeded within the side walls of the cylindrical outer cup to form a cylindrical seal therearound. A resilient outer ring means is snapped over the juncture between the respective open ends of the inner and outer cup to secure the seal therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4370778
Abstract: A novel sausage casing binder made of elements of plastic and a method by which the elements are mounted against the constricted portion of the casing so as to form a clamp ring thereabout, whereafter the elements are joined to stabilize the rigid and entirely closed annular shape of the clamp ring in secure engagement with the constricted portion. For binding the casing in the end which is going to be suspended by the smoking of the sausage a binding element is used which is provided with a suspension member forming an integral part thereof, whereby the use of special suspension members to be laid under the clamp is obviated and a very safe suspension is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4290253
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a filled packaging container comprising the steps of forming a bag on a mandrel, connecting a seam provided in a formed bag, forming a hole on an upper side of the bag and inserting a valve into the hole to provide an air pressure release after filling the container with a material. Two opposite edges of the valve are formed with two flexible portions made of foil. A sealing fluid is applied in the channel to provide a fluid film to connect the foil portions.

  • Patent number: 4208855
Abstract: To provide a hermetic seal for flexible receptacles such as plastic bags, pouches, or casings, the outside of the mouth of the receptacle is coated with a cold flowing resin so that when the receptacle is filled and its mouth gathered under pressure the resin will cold flow and fill the voids in the gathered folds. Preferably, the end of the gathered mouth is trimmed and then high pressure is applied to cause the resin to exude from the trimmed end. Next, a forming plunger is used to press the exudate into a smooth surface whereby a fused cap of resin is formed hermetically closing the bag's mouth. As an alternative, a clip or band can be placed around the gathered end under sufficient pressure to case cold flow of the resin thereby sealing the voids.
