Abstract: Transforming machines for changing a strip of unopened bag precursors into open bag precursors are disclosed that include a drive motor, a separation station, a sensor electrically connected to a controller that is electrically connected to components of the separation station. The separation station includes a first roller, a separation roller driven by the drive motor, and a pressure device having an actuator selectively activating the pressure device to apply pressure to the strip of unopened bag precursors passing over the first roller. In operation, the controller, based on a signal from the sensor, determines when perforations are located in a gap between the pressure device and the separation roller and at that time signals the actuator to activate the pressure device, with the drive motor driving the separation roller, thereby separating the perforations in a first film layer, but not the perforations in a second film layer.

Abstract: A packaging and filling apparatus fills a tube of a web of a packaging material with a fluid product, forms lateral seal bands, cuts each seal band of a series of pillow-like preformed bodies with a cutting device to form a packaging and filling container of the final form. The cutting device comprises a resistance measuring device for measuring a cutting resistance pressure that a packaging material cutting blade receives from the packaging material, and then outputting a measurement value obtained, and a blade monitoring device for monitoring the condition of the packaging material cutting blade based upon based upon a comparison of a difference between a maximum measured cutting resistance pressure and a constant measured cutting resistance pressure following the maximum measured cutting resistance pressure with a predetermined pressure difference reference value.

Abstract: An induction foil cap sealer system includes a monitoring system that comprises a plurality of sensors disposed throughout the sealer system, each sensor monitoring a respective condition related to the sealing operation. A controller is configured to receive from the sensors data representing the monitored conditions and to process this data, determining operating information related to the sealing operation and possibly fault conditions with the sealing operation. The controller is also configured to communicate with a display system and to cause this display system to activate one or more peripheral devices in order to report to a system operator, for example, the determined operating information and/or fault conditions related to the monitored conditions. • Patent number: 7322170
Abstract: An apparatus for the sterile filling of containers sterilizes the containers before supplying them, with their caps on, to a substantially airtight chamber for filling. A precision lead screw precisely positions each container under the appropriate capping/uncapping mechanism and the appropriate filling needle. Filling and capping of each container is individually controlled so that each container is filled with a precise amount of liquid, and each cap is applied with the proper torque. The minimized number of components of the system minimizes the potential openings through which unfiltered air may enter the apparatus. Keeping the containers capped except while they're actually being filled minimizes the opportunity for any bacteria or viruses to enter the container.

  • Patent number: 7269933
Abstract: A case sealer has a frame with a low friction conveyor upon which boxes are moved in series through three stages, each having an independent pair of spaced-apart, lateral conveyors that are linked together for inward and outward movement to accommodate the width of the box to be sealed. A first measuring stage measures the height, width and length of the box. A second flap folding stage has a floating head located over its lateral conveyors and is responsive to the height and width of the box and folds the box end and side flaps into a closed position. When a box enters the flap folding stage, the lateral conveyors in the measuring stage open to accept the next box, and based on the speed of the lateral conveyors and the measured length of the previous box, a gate allows the next box to enter the measuring stage as soon as the previous box has cleared the measuring stage.

Abstract: A method for controlling a blister packaging machine during which a bottom film provided with a recess is, inside or in front of a sealing station, brought together with a top film and is guided through the sealing station at a constant speed of conveyance. A sealing roll, whose temperature can be controlled, is provided inside the sealing station and serves to seal the top film onto the bottom film. The speed of conveyance can be preselected in an at least indirect manner. When selecting a modified set value of the conveyance speed, the temperature of the sealing roll and the speed of conveyance are modified according to a predetermined characteristic curve until the predetermined set value of the speed of conveyance is reached.

Abstract: A screw capper 1 includes a capping head 6 which grips a cap 5, a servo motor 7 which rotates the capping head, a voltmeter 10 which measures the torque of the capping head, an encoder 11 which detects the rotational angle of the capping head, and a control device 8 which controls the servo motor. In the screw capper, whether rotational fastening is acceptable is to be determined during the rotational fastening, the measured value of the encoder is measured from a predetermined measurement starting point until a rotational fastening completion point, and if the measured rotational angle is in the range of an acceptable decision angle which is set in advance, it is determined that the rotational fastening has been acceptably performed, whereas if the measured rotational angle is not in the range of the acceptable decision angle, it is determined that the rotational fastening is unacceptable.

  • Patent number: 6948297
Abstract: A capping apparatus 1 includes torque sensor 12 which detects an output torque when a chuck 7 is driven for rotation by a motor 9. Initially, a cap 5 is held by the chuck 7. The cap 5 is fitted over a mouth of a vessel 2, and then the chuck 7 is rotated through one revolution in a clamping direction. A resulting output torque is detected by the torque sensor 12, and the output torque rapidly increases at the position where the threads on the cap 5 and the vessel 2 abut against each other (an incipient position of meshing engagement P). The cap 5 is rotated through a given angle of rotation as referenced to the incipient position of meshing engagement P, thus threadably engaging the cap 5 with the vessel 2. The invention allows a uniform clamping of cap 5 at the completion of the capping operation.
