  • Patent number: 10662054
Abstract: A horseback riding apparatus embodiment is described that includes a saddle mountable over a body of a horse, a bridle mountable over a head of a horse, a main rein connected to the bridle and a rein keeper connectable to the main rein and the saddle. The rein keeper has a first end, an elongated strap, and a second end opposite to the first end. The first end can be slidably connectable to the main rein, and the second end can be fixedly connectable to the saddle. The elongated strap has a strap length, wherein at least a portion of the strap length is extensible to allow a horse head to freely move between a raised position and a resting position and wherein the rein keeper is graspable by a rider seated on the saddle.

Abstract: The pet restraint system sheaths a restraint strap between an outer waterproof layer and an inner breathable fabric layer. These layers are oversized relative to the strap and do not extend the entire length of the strap. This arrangement is advantageously used in a pet collar structure, or a pet restraint harness. It has particular application for a dog collar or a dog restraint harness.

  • Patent number: 7591125
Abstract: A cinch connector for connecting a cinch to a saddle. The cinch connector has a frame, a latch bar, and a tongue. The frame has a top frame member, a bottom frame member, and an intermediate frame member supported in a spaced apart, parallel relation to define a first strap receiving slot and a second strap receiving slot. The latch bar is pivotally connected to the bottom frame member and defines a catch receiving space. At least a portion of the latch bar is configured to be received through the ring of a buckle when the distal end of a catch of the buckle is disengaged from the ring so that the catch of the buckle may then be rotated through the catch receiving space of the latch bar to engage the ring of the buckle thereby capturing the latch bar to connect the cinch connector to the buckle. The tongue is pivotally connected to the bottom frame member and extendible to the intermediate frame member to fasten the strap to the cinch connector.

  • Patent number: 5349805
Abstract: An improved breastplate assembly (10) which is adapted for connection with a saddle (12) and serves as a humane training aid to encourage a horse to travel with its head lowered while avoiding injury to the animal in the event of undue upward movement of the horse's head and neck. The breastplate assembly (10) includes a breastplate (14) having a pair of interconnected straps (24, 26) adapted for connection to the saddle (12), together with a depending central strap (16) coupled with the breastplate (14) and extending downwardly for connection with the lower girth strap (22) of saddle (12). The central strap (16) includes an elongated, axially stretchable section (42), which preferably forms the lowermost section of the strap (16). A tiedown strap (18) is secured to the central strap (16) and extends upwardly for coupling with the horse's bridle to provide yieldable, axially stretching of the central strap (16) in response to upward movement of the horse's head.

  • Patent number: 4214420
Abstract: The harness device is used to effect head control of a horse and includes a crown assembly connected to a bit in the horse's mouth via a pair of control lines connectable to a strap that is attached either along the belly or the mane of the horse. The crown assembly is effective to fit over the ears of a horse and includes a poll strap extending across the poll area of the horse's head. The strap is detachably connectable to the cinch of a saddle for extending forward along the horse's belly between the front legs of the horse. The pair of control lines extends from the end of the belly strap to the bit via a movable connection with the crown assembly. This controls the upward movement of the head. A pair of control lines attached to a strap extending along the horse's mane controls the downward movement of the head.
