Abstract: A filter element includes a media pack and a gasket member. The gasket member includes first and second gasket regions separated by a channel. The elements are usable in a dust collector having a dirty air inlet, a clean air outlet, and a tubesheet dividing between an unfiltered and a clean air volume. An element is removably mounted and sealed within the tube sheet. At least one projection angled relative to a plane of the tube sheet extends into the channel of the gasket member. A method of servicing a dust collector includes removing a first filter element from the tube sheet in the housing, and then sealing a second filter element against the tube sheet by orienting at least one projection extending from a plane of the tube sheet into a channel defined by a gasket member secured to the second filter element. An axial force is exerted to form a seal between the gasket member and the tube sheet.

Heated inert gas is supplied to an inside of a snout which is formed between a continuous annealing furnace outlet and a hot-dip metal plating bath. Atmospheric temperature of the inside of the snout and temperature of an inner wall of the snout are maintained, gas having a flow rate greater than a gas supply flow rate is exhausted. A gas stream is formed which flows from the continuous annealing furnace to a surface of the hot-dip metal plating bath, which prevents quality defect from occurring caused by metal fumes generated from molten metal surface.

  • Patent number: 8268030
Abstract: The invention provides wind energy use. One application provides wind energy use for water harvesting from natural humid air. The method is based on changing thermodynamic state parameters of ambient wind air portions passed through a device comprising convergent-divergent and wing-like components. Those components transform the ambient wind portions into fast and cooled outflowing air portions. A decrease in static pressure and temperature triggers condensation of water-vapor into water-aerosols. Another application of the method provides an effective mechanism for harvesting electrical energy from naturally warm air using renewable wind energy, including the wind inertia, internal heat, and potential energy stored in the air mass in the Earth's gravitational field. The electrical energy harvesting mechanism is also applicable to use of natural renewable energy of streaming water.

Abstract: The invention provides an ecologically clean method and apparatus for water harvesting from air. The method is based on changing of thermodynamic state properties of air wind getting a rotation and passing through convergent-divergent nozzles. It comprises a cascade of sequentially arranged horn-tubes and a set of stationary wing-like details. Those horn-tubes transform the wind into a fast and cooled out-flowing air flux coming-and-hitting upon the set of wing-like details, where the air portions are accelerated and eddying. • Patent number: 7927408
Abstract: An inertial inlet particle separator system for a vehicle engine includes an inertial inlet particle separator and an adjustment mechanism. The separator includes a fluid inlet coupled to a scavenge channel and to a clean channel such that a first amount of fluid passing through the fluid inlet enters the scavenge channel and a second amount of fluid passing through the fluid inlet enters the clean channel. The scavenge channel is defined by a first wall and a splitter, and the clean channel is defined by a second wall and the splitter. The splitter and the second wall are stationary with respect to each other. The adjustment mechanism is coupled to the inertial inlet particle separator and configured to adjust a size of the scavenge channel. Although not necessarily, the adjustment mechanism may also be coupled to the scavenge fan speed.

  • Patent number: 7914603
Abstract: A particle trap for a remote plasma source includes a body structure having an inlet for coupling to a chamber of a remote plasma source and an outlet for coupling to a process chamber inlet. The particle trap for a remote plasma source also includes a gas channel formed in the body structure and in fluid communication with the body structure inlet and the body structure outlet. The gas channel can define a path through the body structure that causes particles in a gas passing from a first portion of the channel to strike a wall that defines a second portion of the gas channel at an angle relative to a surface of the wall. A coolant member can be in thermal communication with the gas channel.

Abstract: An inertial gas-liquid impactor separator includes an inertial impactor collector having an impactor surface extending diagonally relative to axially accelerated flow, which surface is preferably a cone having a leading tip axially facing and axially aligned with the acceleration nozzle. In a further aspect, first and second inertial impactor collectors are provided in series, with an orifice in the first inertial impactor collector providing a nozzle for the second inertial impactor collector. Improved performance is provided by reducing the extent of the stagnation region to change from a narrow band particle size range to a wider band range and to shift cut-off size. An inertial gas-liquid impactor separator has a perforated layer of coalescence media having at least one aperture through which the gas-liquid stream flows. Improved performance is provided by increased penetration of the flow into the media patch and thereby enhancing particle capture by interception, impaction and diffusion.

  • Patent number: 7875095
Abstract: A skimmer device for concentrating an aerosol from a flowing gas stream, having an inlet with inlet aperture and inlet raceway, an outlet with virtual impact void and collector channel, and bulk flow divertors symmetrically disposed on either side of the long axis of flow, further characterized in that the downstream walls of the bulk flow divertors are concavedly curved and reverse the direction of bulk flow. In section, the four channels or passages of the “skimmer” thus form a “crossed tee” with concavedly contoured lateral arms curving back around. The lateral flow channels are for diverting the bulk flow into exhaust chimney spaces, and the chimney spaces are positioned proximate to the inlet element and anterior to the collection channel. In operation, the bulk flow streamlines are thereby folded more than 90 degrees away from the long axis of flow on the laterally disposed concave walls of the bulk flow channels.
