Abstract: A process for the preparation of organophosphorus derivatives of 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol with a high proportion of organophosphorus derivatives of biphenyl, which comprises reacting, in a first step, a 4,4'-dihalobiphenyl whose halogen has an atomic weight of at least 35, under Grignard conditions with magnesium to form the corresponding Grignard compound and this is further reacted in a second step with bis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) chlorophosphite with the formation of a mixture in which at least 50% by weight of the phosphorus is combined in the form of tetrakis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) 4,4'-biphenylenediphosphonite. The invention further relates to a polyolefin molding composition containing tetrakis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) 4,4'-biphenylenediphosphonite which was prepared by reaction of a 4,4'-dihalobiphenyl whose halogen has an atomic weight of at least 35 with magnesium to form the Grignard compound and by subsequent reaction with bis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) chlorophosphite.

Abstract: Phytic acid or at least one of its salts is used as an effective component for cell activators in a hypoxic state, circulatory ameliorators, dementia remedies and edible compositions.
Abstract: Polyfunctional hexasubstituted benzene derivatives wherein at least three of the substituents are saturated carbon chains having from 1 to 21 carbon atoms and functional groups containing hetero functionalities at the ends of the carbon chains and the remainder of the 6 substituents are either saturated carbon chains containing from 1 to 21 carbon atoms or saturated carbon chains containing from 1 to 21 carbon atoms having a functional group including a hetero functional group containing N, O, S, P, or Si at the end of the chains. These derivatives are made by reacting a disubstituted alkyne wherein one or both of the substituents are saturated carbon chains having 1 to 21 carbon atoms to which hetero functional groups are attached with a palladium catalyst and isolating the resulting hexasubstituted benzene derivative.

Abstract: A process for regioselectively preparing phosphorylated cyclitols, in particular phosphorylated inositols such as myo-inositol 1,4,5-tris(phosphate) and myo-inositol 1,3,4,5-tetrakis(phosphate). Novel cyclitols produced by means of this process are also described.
Abstract: Aryl fluorophosphites have been found to be effective polymer stabilizers and are hydrolytically stable when used to form aqueous suspensions.
Abstract: An aromatic tetraphosphite suitable for use as an antioxidant for organic materials. The aromatic tetraphosphite has the formula: ##STR1## wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and straight chain, branched and cyclic alkyl groups having from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms with the provision that at least two of the R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 groups are alkyl groups.
Abstract: Reaction products of 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride O,O-dialkyldithiophosphate adduct of the formula ##STR1## have been found to be beneficial additives for functional fluids used in the machinery of motorized vehicles. These additives are effective extreme pressure agents and antiwear agents as well as antioxidants for use in such functional fluids as lubricating oils including automatic transmission fluids and hydraulic fluids.

Abstract: Novel dimer esters and polyesters derived from and adduct of 5-norbornene-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride and O,O-dialkyldithiophosphoric acid have been produced. These dimer esters and polyesters are useful extreme pressure agents, antiwear agents and oxidation inhibitors as well as friction modifying agents for functional fluids used in motorized vehicles.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of neutralized, clear, stable solutions by acid catalyzed reaction of urea and aldehydes where the aldehydes are either acetaldehyde or mixtures of not more than 3 moles of propionaldehyde to 1 mole of acetaldehyde, at reaction pH's of from about 3.1 to 4.5 at temperatures from about 30.degree. C. to 75.degree. C. and the mole ratio of urea to aldehydes is about 1.3:1 to 2.5:1. The products of the process are useful as sprayable sources of nitrogen which are non phytotoxic and have prolonged fertilizer activity.
Abstract: Tetrakis(2,6-di-t-butyl-4-substituted phenyl)4,4'-substitutedbisphenyl diphosphites that are prepared from a hindered phenol and a non-hindered bisphenol have been found to be excellent stabilizers for organic materials subject to degradation, and form even more effective combinations with hydroxyphenylalkyleneyl isocyanurates, substantially and synergistically enhancing the stabilizing efficiency of the isocyanurate.
