Single Pair Of Shears Patents (Class 56/241)
  • Patent number: 7322111
Abstract: A lever actuated cutting tool that allows ground level cutting of shrubs and small trees from a standing position. The design of the cutting tool takes advantage of the principles of leverage and resistive force, and also incorporates a pendulum swing, to provide a tool that is able to generate a tremendous amount of cutting force. A padded handle is provided at the long end of the lever and a first sharpened steel blade is attached to the cutting end of the lever. The lever is rotate-ably attached to the fulcrum and the fulcrum lies on the ground during operation. A second sharpened steel blade is immovably attached to the base of the fulcrum, and the trunk of the shrub to be removed is positioned in between the two blades. The cutting action is accomplished by moving the lever downward toward the ground. The force applied by the user is multiplied by the lever and transferred to the first cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 7275323
Abstract: A long-handled shears with a detachable connecting device has an operational grip stick with an elongated tube and a wire, a grass shears, and a connecting device attached between the grip stick and the grass shears. The ball is attached to the wire of the grip stick. The base is mounted on the elongated tube, allows the wire to extend through the base and engages the grass shears by a clamp. The engaging block is movably mounted inside a grip of the grass shears and has a ball recess. When the grip of the grass shears is compressed, the engaging block moves aside to reveal the ball recess to allow the ball to enter the ball recess. Then, the handle is released to lock the ball inside the ball recess. By engaging the ball and the engaging block, the grass shears detachably attaches to the grip stick conveniently.

  • Patent number: 6993895
Abstract: A long-stick mower which includes a base, a fixed shear, a mobile shear, a driver, a linkage, an extension spring and an extension control rod. The base is connected to the lower end of the extension rod. The top of the driver is pivoted to the base and drawn toward the base by the extension spring. The linkage is pivoted to the top of the mobile shear at one end and to the drive at the other end. The extension spring is hooked to the bottom of the base to draw the drive. The extension control rod is inserted to the base. When the top of the extension control rod is pressed down, the driver has its caster to hold against the ground and the driver spreads up backward to draw the linkage to move backward to pull the mobile shear. When the extension control rod is pulled up, the driver is drawn back to push the linkage to move forward while pushing the mobile shear to spread up to complete an easy cycle of cutting.

  • Patent number: 6571479
Abstract: A gardening shears structure comprised of a main member, an extension member, a lock sleeve, an upper connecting rod, a coupler, and a lower connecting rod, a handle and a blade mechanism respectively assembled to the upper connecting rod and the lower connecting rod and, furthermore, a mount conjoined onto the handle and an auxiliary handle situated in the mount. During usage, the user grasps the handle with one hand and holds the auxiliary handle in the other hand to increase garden shears operating stability, while the lock sleeve and the coupler provides for control over the extension member and lower connecting rod to vary overall length, thereby providing for length adjustable and even grass trimming performance.

  • Patent number: 5937626
Abstract: A hand-held device for picking fruit which includes an elongated grip member and a head member connected to the elongated grip member which includes a pair of fixed immovable blades. Each blade has a cutting edge. The blades are positioned in the head in opposed planar relationship to one another so that at least a portion of each respective cutting edge is in spaced opposed relationship to the cutting edge of the other blade at a distance less than the thickness of the stem of the fruit to be picked. Picking is accomplished by a thrusting motion in which the device is held in one of the laborers hands while the fruit to be picked is grasped in the other. The device is thrust at the stem of the fruit to be picked. The pair of fixed blades guides the stem into the cutting region where the stem is severed. The fruit can be removed by the hand holding it during the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4965992
Abstract: A device for removing unwanted vegetation consisting of a pole with a pair of cutting members on one end and two control handles on the other end. In use, the end with the cutting members is pulled through the vegetation and as the device moves, the offending vegetation is cut off by the cutting action produced by the pulling movement. If, during the cutting, the unwanted vegetation is found to be supple and yielding, a first handle is depressed. This brings the cutting members closer together and causes the supple vegetation to be sheared off. On the other hand, if, during the cutting, the unwanted vegetation pulls out of the ground and becomes lodged in the device, a second handle is depressed. This permits the cutting members to rotate away from each other thereby releasing the unwanted vegetation from the device.
