Abstract: A method of preparing p-aminodiphenylamines from diphenylamines is described whereby neither the N-nitrosodiphenylamine or the p-nitrosodiphenylamine need be isolated. The method rests on the discovery that alkali metal salts of p-nitrosodiphenylamines are soluble in non-aqueous organic solvent systems consisting of certain aromatic hydrocarbons and saturated aliphatic alcohols, and that such salts can be readily hydrogenated in their non-aqueous solution to the corresponding p-aminodiphenylamine.

Abstract: Porous polyurethane solids such as open cell polyurethane foams are rapidly heated and hydrolytically decomposed into separate polyol component and diamine component by contacting the porous solids with saturated steam in a heated vacuum chamber. Separation of high quality liquid polyol and diamine is achieved.
Abstract: Methylhydrazines are produced in high yield by reaction of trimethylanilinium halide with hydrazine or monomethylhydrazine at a reaction temperature of 80.degree. to 130.degree. C. for at least 3 hours.Methylhydrazines are useful compounds in the fields of chemical industry, such as manufacturing pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals, and space weapon industry.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluenes comprises catalytically hydrogenating the corresponding molten nitro compound in the presence of water, adding hydrochloric acid to form the monohydrochlorides, crystallizing 2,6-diaminotoluene monohydrochloride, filtering it off and, if desired, liberating the free bases by addition of an alkali.
