    Abstract: A hydraulic actuator has an armored section having concentric cylinders and an unarmored section having a cylinder with a frangible piston and a frangible upper gland nut. The hydraulic actuator may have leakage vents adapted to prevent leakage between hydraulic systems used to power the cylinders. The hydraulic actuator also may have a gland seal for sealing an end of the cylinder of the unarmored section and a sensing port adapted for allowing detection of fluid leaking due to damage of the gland seal.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for photostabilizing, with respect to UV radiation, at least one dibenzoylmethane derivative with at least one arylalkyl benzoate derivative and at least one oil containing in its structure at least one amide unit. The present invention also relates to the use of an arylalkyl benzoate derivative and an oil containing in its structure at least one amide unit in a cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising at least one dibenzoylmethane derivative, for the purpose of improving the stability with respect to UV rays of the said dibenzoylmethane derivative.

    Abstract: A pneumatically operated hydraulic pump includes a cylinder housing accommodating a main piston to subdivide the housing interior in two working chambers. The main piston is connected to a hydraulic piston for joint reciprocation so that the hydraulic piston can carry out a suction stroke when the main piston moves to one end position and a pressure stroke when the main piston moves to the other end position. Arranged laterally to the cylinder housing is a control mechanism for regulating a flow of working fluid alternately to the working chambers. The control mechanism includes a plastic valve casing for accommodating a control piston having opposite end faces of different size to define different effective areas and thereby realize reciprocation of the control piston by the working fluid. A slide shoe is guided in the valve casing for conjoint movement with the control piston.

The master chamber is connected to the inlet port to receive working fluid from the pump. A valve spool is slidably fitted in the valve body through the booster chamber and the master chamber, the valve spool being shifted between an idle position and an operating position.

These diesters and polyesters of formula (I) or (II) are quite effective in stabilizing the dibenzoylmethane derivative UV-A filter compounds making them more effective, and effective for longer periods of time.

    Abstract: A vehicle convertible top has hydraulic cylinders for moving the top between extreme raised and lowered positions. The cylinders each have a pair of fluid translating ports each connected to ports in an elongated housing. A reversible hydraulic pump is in one end of the housing, while a reservoir is in the other end, separated by a pump cap. The pump cap houses two fluid circuits each connected to a housing port and each including an end of cycle hydraulic locking device which comprises a normally-closed valve and a valve actuator in each circuit. In one direction of pump operation, one of the valves is opened by pressure fluid in the one circuit to enable the outflow of the pressure fluid to the cylinders. The other valve is forced open by its actuator, in response to pressure in the one circuit, to enable the return flow of fluid to the pump through the other circuit. The one valve closes when the pump ceases operation, preventing fluid backflow through the one circuit to the pump.

    Abstract: A torque-amplifying hydraulic servo-mechanism of the kind including a rotary hydraulic motor and a hydraulic distributor, said motor being of the sliding vane type and the distributor of the "face", open center type. According to the invention, the rotor (50) of the hydraulic motor includes two diametrically opposite cylindrical surfaces (90) in contact with the stator bore and each extending over an arc equal to that between two adjacent vanes (24), and two interconnecting portions each having two flat faces (106, 108) interconnected by a cylindrical surface portion (104); and the number of vanes (94) is advantageously four times the number of said surfaces ( 90), that is eight. The servo-mechanism thus designed may be advantageously used in power steering systems for motor vehicles, and produces an output torque substantially constant irrespective of the relative position of the rotor and stator of the hydraulic motor.
